Recently, Guangming Daily reported the latest progress of the special work of science and technology ethics education in colleges and universities of the Ministry of Education with the title of "Remarkable Achievements in the Special Work of Science and Technology Ethics Education in Colleges and Universities".

The first batch of achievements of the special work of science and technology ethics education in colleges and universities: the new form of textbook of "Engineering Ethics".

The relevant progress is mainly divided into four aspects: establishing and improving the promotion mechanism for special work, systematically laying out the construction of key courses, orderly promoting the compilation of key teaching materials, and basically forming a diversified cooperation network. In terms of the compilation of key textbooks, the textbook "Engineering Ethics" has been published, and the textbooks "Data Ethics", "Introduction to Science and Technology Ethics", "Medical Ethics", "Environmental Ethics" and "Artificial Intelligence Ethics" will be published by the end of 2024.

This book is oriented to the needs of engineering ethics education at the undergraduate level, takes the fundamental task of contemporary talent training and engineering education as the starting point, reflects the new goals and connotations of contemporary "new engineering" education, and reflects the characteristics and requirements of undergraduate general education. On the basis of analyzing the basic concepts of engineering and ethics, and distinguishing different ethical positions, this book focuses on how to do a good project, how to become a qualified and excellent engineer, and how to practice the concept of responsible innovation in all aspects of the whole life cycle of engineering, so as to guide students to improve their ethical awareness, establish the value concept of keeping the bottom line, improving the baseline, and pursuing excellence. At the same time, this book combines the key issues of engineering impact on public health, safety and environment, starting from the goal of promoting the sustainable development of human society and natural systems, and specifically analyzes how to improve the responsibility and ability to follow ethical norms and respond to new ethical issues in engineering practice.

This book is edited by Professor Li Zhengfeng of Tsinghua University, and co-edited by 17 experts and scholars in the field of engineering ethics from nearly 10 universities including Tsinghua University, Dalian University of Technology, Zhejiang University, Beihang University, Peking Union Medical College, and University of Chinese Academy of Sciences.

Li Zhengfeng is a professor and doctoral supervisor in the Department of Sociology, Tsinghua University. Director of the Center for Science, Technology and Society and Deputy Director of the Research Center for Science and Technology Development and Governance, Tsinghua University. He used to be the vice president of the School of Social Sciences of Tsinghua University, the vice chairman of the China Development Strategy Research Association, the executive director of the Chinese Society of Science and Technology Policy, the executive director of the Chinese Sociological Association, the executive director of the Chinese Society of Natural Dialectics, and the expert and secretary-general of the working group of the Ministry of Education's "Special Work on Science and Technology Ethics Education in Universities". He was selected into the Beijing New Century Social Science Theory Talent Hundred Talents Project, the Ministry of Education's New Century Excellent Talent Support Program, etc. He has been awarded the title of "National Advanced Worker" by the State Council, the Outstanding Contribution Award for the 30th Anniversary of the China Development Strategy Research Association, and the Outstanding Contribution Award of the Chinese Science and Technology Policy Research Association.
