On April 26, the Pesticide Control Institute of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs announced the information of the fourth batch of pesticide products to be approved for registration in 2024, and the batch of pesticide products to be registered and changed contains 7 glyphosate potassium salt/glyphosate isopropylamine salt products to obtain the registration of biological breeding crops, which is an important announcement of the product system in the field of biological breeding crop weeding after the registration and publicity of the first batch of biological breeding crop weeding products on March 29. On March 29, the first batch of glyphosate transgenic crop herbicides 2 glyphosate transgenic crop herbicides registration publicity, affiliated enterprises are Jiangshan Co., Ltd., subsidiaries of Jiangsu Nantong Nanshen Plant Protection Technology Development Co., Ltd. and Zhejiang Xin'an Chemical Group Co., Ltd., the expansion of the registration of pesticides through the review into the publicity, to complete the last step of biological breeding legal drugs. On April 26, a new batch of herbicide expansion registration for 7 genetically modified target traits of Syngenta, Bayer, Xin'an Co., Ltd., Youjia Plant Protection, a subsidiary of Yangnong Chemical, and Hubei Taisheng Chemical, a subsidiary of Xingfa Group, were announced, which means that the legal use of genetically modified drugs in mainland China is gradually enriching and improving. The products registered and publicized this time are 41% glyphosate potassium salt solution from Zhejiang Xin'an Chemical Group Co., Ltd., 35% glyphosate potassium brine solution from Syngenta Nantong Crop Protection Co., Ltd., 41% glyphosate potassium brine and 30% glyphosate isopropylamine brine from Bayer AG, 30% glyphosate isopropylamine salt solution and 41% glyphosate potassium salt solution from Hubei Taisheng Chemical Co., Ltd., and 30% glyphosate isopropylamine salt water from Jiangsu Youjia Plant Protection Co., Ltd.

The nine glyphosate isopropylamine/potash products that have been registered and publicized by biological breeding crops involve a total of three corn transformants of DBN9936, DBN9858 and DBN3601T (DBN9936×DBN9501), and one soybean transformant DBN9004.

With the continuous expansion of commercial cultivation of genetically modified crops, their proportion in agricultural production is increasing, and correspondingly, the dependence on herbicides in the cultivation process is also increasing. This presents not only opportunities to increase crop yields, but also the challenge of risk of herbicide use. How to effectively control and reduce these risks has become the focus of common concern of agricultural technology departments and growers.

On April 23, the China Pesticide Industry Association led the drafting of two group standards - "Technical Specifications for the Rational Use of Glyphosate in Genetically Modified Herbicide-tolerant Soybean Fields" and "Technical Specifications for the Rational Use of Glyphosate in Genetically Modified Herbicide-tolerant Corn Fields" issued a draft for comments, which elaborated on the reasonable application requirements and application techniques of glyphosate in the planting of genetically modified herbicide-tolerant soybeans and corn, aiming to provide scientific guidance for growers to reduce the risk of herbicide use and ensure the safety of agricultural production. At the same time, domestic and foreign agrochemical enterprises such as Xin'an, Jiangshan, Syngenta, Bayer, etc., are actively grasping the development opportunities brought by the industrialization of biological breeding, these first-mover enterprises have begun to take advantage of this industry trend, accelerate the extension of the product industry chain, and constantly expand the product line, in order to occupy a favorable position in the wave of biological breeding industrialization, and contribute to the sustainable development of agriculture.
