As the "chip" of animal husbandry, improved breeds are at the heart of this change. Since the introduction of the first batch of high-quality beef cattle from Canada in 1996, after nearly 30 years of purebred breeding in Changchun Xinmu, the company has owned a number of high-quality beef cattle breeds and excellent breeding strains. At present, Changchun Xinmu has supplied a total of 1,349 bull stations across the country, provided 35 million doses of frozen sperm to the society, and improved about 19.8 million local cattle. According to the average weight gain of 300 kg per improved cow, the cumulative increase in the weight of improved cattle is about 5 billion kg, and the income of farmers is increased by tens of billions of yuan.
However, this change did not happen overnight. Behind it is the hard work and continuous exploration of countless days and nights of scientific researchers. Changchun Xinmu works closely with the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences, Jilin University and other scientific research units to jointly carry out research on beef cattle breeding and local breed improvement. He explained that this system should be jointly participated by the government, associations, farmers and other parties to carry out breed registration, directional breeding, performance measurement and other work to ensure that the quality of beef cattle breeds is continuously improved.
