In the branch library of Wuhan Optics Valley Shufang University Science and Technology Park, there is a volunteer "Sister Ma" who is loved by readers and staff, her name is Ma Jinrong.

From the opening of the Optics Valley study in 2022 to the first time she was not scheduled to work but took the initiative to ask for work, she has accumulated nearly 200 hours of service, and she has appeared in the branch library of the University Science and Technology Park almost every weekend.

Everyone gave her the evaluation of "tall", Gao is "happy", "big" is "big", and "positive".

"Why don't you have me in the service schedule?" she fought

At about 6 o'clock in the evening of April 20, at the branch library of the Science and Technology Park of Optics Valley Study University, when a reader was about to leave with a borrowed book, an alarm sounded from the barrier at the entrance of the study. Ma Jinrong, who had short hair and was wearing a light blue study volunteer vest, hurried over to see the situation.

Based on her previous experience, she quickly discovered that there was a book that stayed on the automatic device for a short time and did not demagnetize when she checked it out. After her skillful operation, a small embarrassment was quickly resolved.

Including book borrowing and returning inquiries, as well as book room reservation reception, book arrangement, activity execution, environmental cleaning and other matters, are all normal services engaged in by Ma Jinrong and other volunteers, which seem trivial, but doing a good job is very important to the public's reading experience.

Ma Jinrong, a mother of a junior high school student who lives near Xiongchu Avenue on Guandong Street, began her experience as a study volunteer in July 2022.

"Sister Ma is one of the first volunteers in our study, and she has persevered to do it now. Liu Bin, manager of the branch library of Optics Valley Study University Science and Technology Park, recalled that in April of that year, the first two Optics Valley study rooms were officially opened to the public, including the branch library of the University Science and Technology Park, which was very popular. In order to provide more and better reading services to readers, the study room then began to recruit volunteers.

After registration, training and testing, more than 20 people including Ma Jinrong were admitted. "I used to want to be a clerk in a bookstore, but I didn't make it. However, if you don't catch up with A, you can choose B, and it's not bad to be a volunteer at a bookstore. Ma Jinrong is very happy about this.

Later, there was a small episode, and the first batch of volunteer service arrangements in the study room did not have Ma Jinrong's name. "Why don't you have me in the volunteer service schedule?" Ma Jinrong was anxious, went to fight for it himself, and finally got the first batch of opportunities.

The first time she went to the study to "work" was on July 1, when she got off work from a nearby company, had a casual meal, and happily rode an electric car to the study in advance. When the service was almost finished, she happily borrowed a few more books that she and her children liked.

Readers need it, and the "Reading Helper" can also tell you more information

Since 2022, except for some holidays such as the Spring Festival, Ma Jinrong will choose 1 day to do 1 service almost every week, usually for 2 hours each time, and will take the initiative to extend the service time when there are more readers.

If it's a weekday, the unit where she works is relatively close to the study, so she comes over as soon as she gets off work. If it's a holiday, she rides an electric car from home, about half an hour each way, rain or shine. Sometimes the weather is too bad, and if her husband is at home, he is responsible for driving and supporting this "little reading helper".

"Reading helper" is the label Ma Jinrong puts on herself, and she is eager to play this role well. As a result, she puts herself in the shoes of what readers need, what she can provide, and how she can make volunteering in the study better.

When she found that the frequency of this kind of phenomenon is a bit high, she thinks that it can't all be attributed to readers, so she asked the study manager: should we improve the prompt content of the borrowing link, and can the self-service borrowing equipment be more intelligent, and can the book be demagnetized in a short time from a long distance?

In the study, sometimes it is necessary to "extinguish the fire". Occasionally, some readers were temporarily unable to enter the library due to operation errors, and expressed their dissatisfaction loudly, and Sister Ma took the initiative to guide readers to the door and asked about their needs softly. After a while, the reader's anger was smoothed out, and the contradiction was successfully resolved.

The branch library of Optics Valley Shufang University Science and Technology Park is far away from the commercial service area, and some readers want to go to the neighborhood to eat something after reading or borrowing a book.

"I often go to the Optics Valley Study Room in the University Science and Technology Park to borrow books, and the staff and volunteers are very enthusiastic. Citizen Ai Wen (pseudonym) told reporters that she had dealt with Ma Jinrong many times, saying that Sister Ma not only knew that the novel "The Three-Body Problem" was placed in the study, but also told readers where the nearest bathroom was and how much the nearest parking lot would cost if necessary.

Reading is useful, and children are praised as volunteers and life experts

According to the staff of Optics Valley Study, in addition to daily volunteer services, Ma Jinrong is often deeply involved in various public welfare activities in the study.

She is a big fan of the Yangtze River Forum, and usually likes to listen to the lectures of visiting professors from the provincial library. She is willing to teach children to read picture books and do handicrafts in the public welfare activities of the study, and is good at using idle items as materials. Not only is it eco-friendly, but children also love it.

As a mother of a junior high school student, volunteering has given her a deeper connection with her child. Optics Valley Study has launched a special parent-child volunteer model, which allows parents to bring their children to volunteer together. In the past, during the winter and summer vacations, Ma Jinrong often brought his son to the study.

One day Ma Jinrong went out to volunteer, it was raining heavily, she asked her son if he was still going with him, and her son insisted on coming, so the mother and son went out, even if they wore raincoats, their pants were still wet after walking for 5 minutes. I asked him again if we would go back, and my son said that since he had agreed, he must go, gritting his teeth and arriving at the study. She was relieved.

In her spare time, Ma Jinrong likes to choose some educational books to read, and will observe how other parents in the study treat their children, and realize some "baby stimulation methods", which are used on her son, and have some effects.

Now every time Ma Jinrong goes out to volunteer on the weekend, her son Xiaoguo will habitually say: "Don't worry, there is still me at home, if you want to go home for dinner, say it in advance, and I will do it." Xiaoguo can now cook rice and fry a few side dishes, and has become a little assistant to his parents, a year or two ago he was a "little white" in the kitchen.

"I was brought out by my mother, and at first she always coaxed me and taught me to cook some meals, and gradually I became confident. Xiaoguo said embarrassedly, and later realized that he had been "tricked", but this made him useful.

The change in the son makes the parents happy. Ma Jinrong believes that it is very important to work hard within the scope of the child's vision. Her husband, Mr. Wu, travels a lot, but he often tells her to be more careful on the way to the bookstore, and often recommends this bookstore to her friends.

The service time is nearly 200 hours, and I am often moved by the most beautiful back of readers

"Volunteering is like expanding your horizons. If you're just staying at home, you probably won't see that. Ma Jinrong likes this spiritual experience very much.

In the Optics Valley study, Ma Jinrong has seen many "most beautiful backs" who like to read and persist in struggle. The reason why it is said to be the back, because they are serious about reading, so she can't bear to go and disturb for no reason.

There are high school students who come from the school opposite the study, and they come to the study room to study and do problems after class. They don't speak to each other, they only communicate in writing with pen and paper, just so as not to disturb other readers. Ma Jinrong can always see him a few times a month.

There are young people who come in with a computer bag on their backs, habitually choosing a seat by the window, sometimes tapping on the keyboard, sometimes flipping through the professional books taken from the shelves, and often looking relieved at the end. Perhaps, with the help of books, he solved a technical problem at work.

Many mothers of two children entered the study, and after coaxing the children in the stroller to sleep, they whispered to encourage Dabao to choose the books they liked, and they couldn't help but pick a book and read it. Ma Jinrong believes that this is a mother who loves her child with her actions and influences her child.

Some people come to borrow and return books every month or two, and use their and their family's library cards to borrow the maximum number of books and put them in the trolley suitcase they carry with them. "Seeing such readers, I see their perseverance and hard work today, and success tomorrow. Ma Jinrong said that he is willing to carry out volunteer services here, serve others and enrich himself.

"Sister Ma is positive and enthusiastic, and our staff and many readers like her. Liu Bin said that Ma Jinrong has completed a total of 68 volunteer services, with a total time of nearly 200 hours, and has become an excellent representative of the study volunteer group.
