On October 22, 2021, Chinese Ambassador to North Korea Li Jinjun led embassy staff to visit the martyrs' mausoleum of the Chinese People's Volunteer Army on Chosin Lake to the Hyeongnam Fertilizer Factory in Hamheung City, South Hamgyong Province, North Korea, and presented flower baskets to the bronze statue of Premier Zhou Enlai located in the factory area.
When Premier Zhou Enlai visited North Korea in February 1958, he visited the Heungnam Fertilizer Plant. After the death of Premier Zhou Enlai, DPRK President Kim Il Sung instructed the erection of a bronze statue of Premier Zhou in the square of the Hingnam Fertilizer Plant, which Premier Zhou visited, to commemorate Premier Zhou's outstanding contributions to Sino-DPRK friendship.
