At the end of the last century, a horrific event occurred in Africa, the emergence of a "murder lake", which killed all the people in a small village of 1,700 people.

But it was not only these villagers who died, but even all the livestock and poultry in the village died, which was very strange, and it was only after the scientists investigated that the truth of the matter was understood.

It turns out that all this is due to Lake Nyos, a volcanic lake that has been formed over the years in Cameroon, West Africa.

After many years of development, Lake Nyos is very beautiful and the people who live here are very happy.

Most of the residents of the Japanese army were herders, many of the villagers raised some livestock, and the local coffee and bananas were abundant, so the people here lived very happily.

Many people come here and yearn for a beautiful place where the aroma of coffee and fruit fills the air, which makes many people addicted.

But what people didn't expect was that it was because of this lake that no one in the village escaped the fate of death.

On the night of August 21, 1986, the nearby villagers had already gone to rest, but they did not expect that at about 9 o'clock that night, a high column of water suddenly appeared on the calm and beautiful lake, and the height was even as high as 80 meters.

Because it was late at that time, the villagers did not notice the accident, but after the water column technology, a white gas gushed out of the lake.

The gas quickly spreads around when it appears, but people are not aware of the danger because it is carbon dioxide, colorless and odorless, so people do not feel it at all.

It is important to know that the most basic condition for people to survive on the earth is air, but after the air is mixed with carbon dioxide, it will lead to the endangerment of people's lives.

If the concentration of carbon dioxide in the air exceeds 30%, it will directly cause death, and milder people will also experience dizziness and nausea.

However, due to the large amount of carbon dioxide in Lake Nyos, the concentration of carbon dioxide in all the nearby air was as high as 80%, so there was no possibility for all the nearby villagers to escape.

It wasn't until the next day that rescuers arrived to find out the seriousness of the situation, and there was no life in the village, but there was still a survivor at that time.

He remembers that he slept late that night, and that his family lived relatively close to Lake Nyos, so he found out about this strange situation, and later decided to leave with his daughter because he was afraid.

But at this time, the young daughter had no vital signs because she had inhaled a large amount of carbon dioxide, and the villager did not know what was going on, but he desperately ran away.

Later, after scientists studied Lake Nyos, they understood the real reason for the lake's "killing".

It turns out that there is a crater at the bottom of the lake, and this crater is relatively active, so it is constantly releasing carbon dioxide and other harmful gases.

These gases are all under the lake, and the lake becomes a large gas cylinder, and these gases stay in the lake all the time, and there is no way to expel them.

However, if there is a severe geological change, the situation in the lake will be unstable, which will cause the lake to erupt and the gas can be released.

This happened to Lake Nyos, so there was a heavy rainstorm that day, because the heavy rain damaged the pressure of the atmosphere at the bottom of the lake, causing a volcanic eruption and the gas was discharged.

After seeing this, scientists have installed pipes and pumps in the lake to regularly discharge these harmful gases so that animals and residents in the vicinity can be safe.

But it can also be seen from this that people really have no ability to resist in the face of nature.
