On April 4, a villager in Shugang Village, Xinjie Town, Jiayu County, was farming in his field when he found a "big bird" resembling an "owl" lying on the ground, soaked and unable to fly. The villager immediately stepped forward to check, and through the identification and comparison of mobile phone pictures, it was judged that the "big bird" may be an ordinary buzzard, a national second-class protected wild animal, and then decided to send it to the Jiayu County Wildlife and Forest Plant Protection Station for rescue.

After receiving the "big bird" sent by the villagers, the staff of the Jiayu County Wildlife and Forest Plant Protection Station immediately examined its body and found that its wings and legs were scarred to varying degrees. After identification, the bird is indeed a common buscid, a national second-class protected wild animal. "We need to treat it before releasing it. The staff immediately contacted the Cangyu Raptor Rescue Center in Jiangxia District, Wuhan City.

At the rescue center, the professionals carefully examined the patient and found that in addition to the scars on the wings and legs, there was also trichomoniasis infection and mild enteritis, and immediately gave targeted treatment such as deworming, antibacterial and anti-inflammatory. After more than 10 days of meticulous treatment and care, the common buccard gradually recovered, its physical condition stabilized, and it reached the conditions for release on April 18.

Wan Quanjiang, director of the Jiayu County Wildlife and Forest Plant Protection Station, said that in recent years, with the continuous publicity of the wildlife protection law in Jiayu County, the public's awareness of wildlife protection has also been continuously improved.

From January to April this year, the Jiayu County Wildlife and Forest Plant Protection Station rescued and released a total of 81 wild animals, including 1 sparrowhawk, 2 owls, 1 falcon and 1 turtle dove, and rescued and released 76 black water chickens together with the forest police.

The common buscitta is a bird of the genus Eagle of the eagle family, commonly known as the earth leopard, hen harrier, medium-sized bird of prey, with a body length of 42-54 cm and a body color of roughly dark brown or gray-brown. Its temperament is alert, its vision is keen, it mostly inhabits mountain forests and forest edge areas, from the broad-leaved forest at the foot of the mountain at an altitude of 400 meters to the mixed forest and coniferous forest area of about 2000 meters, and likes to eat all kinds of rodents, frogs, lizards, snakes, hares, small birds and large insects.
