In 2005, Chen Wei was honorably enlisted in the army, and soon after joining the army, he submitted an application to the party organization to join the party. On September 1, 2008, Chen Wei joined the Communist Party of China.
After joining the party, Chen Wei was more strict with himself. During his 12 years of service, he participated in the fire extinguishing mission of major fires in Yunnan and Guizhou six times. In 2016, he also volunteered to participate in peacekeeping missions abroad. He was successively rated as "Outstanding Communist Party Member", "Outstanding Soldier" and "Outstanding Non-commissioned Officer", and was awarded a third-class meritorious service.
In 2018, Chen Wei retired and worked at Yunnan Hekou Rural Commercial Bank Co., Ltd. In his new post, he continued to give full play to the fine work style he had cultivated in the army, assiduously studied his work, strengthened his sense of service, and worked hard to improve his ability and quality and work level, and soon became the backbone of the unit's work.
On the afternoon of March 24, 2023, a fire broke out in a private house next to Chen Wei's unit. After hearing the call for help, Chen Wei hurriedly put down his work, put on the fire extinguisher, and rushed out first. In the process of fighting the fire, due to the explosion of electrical appliances in the house, Chen Wei, who was standing at the front, was burned to varying degrees by the sudden eruption of flames on his face, neck, arms and other places.
In the face of sudden fire, Chen Wei was not afraid of danger and led his colleagues to extinguish the fire in time, which saved the property losses of the masses to the greatest extent.
Righteousness and courage are not a whim, but originate from the belief and responsibility in Chen Wei's heart. 12 years of military career tempered Chen Wei's spirit of not fearing hardships and dangers, charging ahead, now he takes off his military uniform and still maintains his true character as a soldier, standing up at a critical juncture, acting bravely, and interpreting the original mission of a Communist Party member and retired soldier with practical actions.
