Today (May 2), the world's first kilometer-level deepwater serving manifold, the key equipment of the second phase of the "Shenhai No. 1" gas field, was completed in Tianjin, setting a new world record for the design water depth and through-ball distance, marking an important breakthrough in the key technology of the independent design and construction of deepwater oil and gas equipment in the mainland.

The serving tube integrates the functions of offshore oil and gas "hub station" and "vascular dredging", which can remotely control and implement deepwater offshore pipe pigging operations, and is one of the core equipment for deepwater oil and gas field development. The submarine pipeline is cleaned by pigging balls, and the second phase of the "Shenhai No. 1" service manifold is pre-embedded with 6 pigging balls in the serving device, with a manifold weight of 360 tons and a designed working water depth of 1,000 meters, which is currently the largest equipment of its kind in the world. The manifold is equipped with key control and monitoring equipment such as underwater control module, hydraulic remote control valve, temperature and pressure sensor, etc., which can "silently" complete all the operations of pigging ball launch into the pipe and pigging on the seabed according to remote instructions.

As the "aorta" of offshore oil and gas fields, submarine pipelines may have problems such as "thrombosis" blockage or "plaque" corrosion while ensuring the smooth transportation of offshore oil and gas. Although the diameter of the offshore pipeline of Shenhai No. 1 Phase II is large enough to accommodate an adult to crawl in it, due to long-term operation in a low-temperature and high-pressure environment, it is still very prone to hydrate and paraffin deposition, which affects the efficiency of pipeline transportation and the operation safety of the production system. In order to ensure the safe and smooth operation of the offshore pipeline, the offshore oil and gas field will regularly carry out "through-ball" pigging operations to clean up the sediment and liquid accumulation generated during the operation of the offshore pipeline, and at the same time check the internal situation of the pipeline.

The Shenhai No. 1 ultra-deepwater gas field, which was put into operation in June 2021, has proven geological reserves of more than 100 billion cubic meters of natural gas, making it the deepest and most difficult offshore ultra-deepwater field independently developed in China. The second phase of the project innovates the development mode of "underwater production system + shallow water jacket platform + deep-water semi-submersible platform remote control system", which can increase the annual output of the "Shenhai No. 1" gas field by another 50% after full operation, and become an important gas source to ensure China's national energy security.
