China, Thailand and Singapore are two countries or regions that have concluded mutual visa exemption agreements, as long as their citizens hold valid passports or international travel documents specified in the agreement, they can enjoy a visa-free stay in each other's countries or regions, which is usually 30 days, but if the stay is more than 30 days, or study, reside or work there, they still need to apply to the visa authorities or competent departments of the other side before entering the country.
Starting from 1 December 2023, China will implement a unilateral visa-free policy for holders of ordinary passports from six countries, including Malaysia, who can enter China without visas for business, tourism, visiting relatives and friends, and transiting through the border for up to 15 days. Malaysia also announced that from December 1, 2023, Malaysia will implement visa-free facilitation measures for Chinese citizens entering the country for 30 days.
It can be seen that the visa facilitation measures are not limited to comprehensive visa exemption. At present, China has signed agreements on mutual exemption of ordinary passports with more than 20 countries, including Singapore and Thailand, with more than 150 countries on mutual visa exemption covering different types of passports, with more than 40 countries on visa simplification agreements or arrangements, and more than 60 countries and regions have granted visa-free or visa-on-arrival facilitation to Chinese citizens.
