Red Story Painting - Governing the Country According to Law|Comic Book "Freedom of Marriage"

After the founding of the People's Republic of China, the first Marriage Law of the People's Republic of China was promulgated on April 13, 1950, which was also the first law promulgated after the founding of the People's Republic of China. Chapter I of the law stipulates: "Abolish the feudal marriage system of arranged coercion, the inferiority of men over women, and the disregard for the interests of children." A new democratic marriage system is implemented in which men and women marry freely, monogamy, equal rights for men and women, and protection of the legitimate rights and interests of women and children. "Bigamy and concurrence are prohibited. Child brides are prohibited. Interference with the freedom of widows to marry is prohibited. It is forbidden for anyone to solicit money or property under the pretext of marital relations. It can be seen from this that the law has the color of emancipating the old concept of marriage among the people of the whole country and establishing and safeguarding the social status of women in marriage and family.

The comic strip "Freedom of Marriage" tells the story of a pair of young men and women who take up legal weapons to defend their right to freedom of marriage, which is a manifestation of the change of people's concept of marriage in the new era.
