🌟 Since the official implementation of the new national standard for infant formula on February 22, 2023, the registration threshold for infant formula has been further raised. The registration of the new national standard has played a positive role in reshaping the industry pattern and promoting high-quality development. By continuously improving product quality requirements, accelerating the iteration of the market pattern, removing backward production capacity, and making product labeling more standardized, the new national standard also puts forward higher goals for the construction of enterprises in R&D and innovation. Since the implementation of the new national standard for more than a year, major enterprises are still stepping up the registration of product formulas. As of March 31, 2024, a total of 1,126 infant formula products have been approved by querying the registration information of the new national standard formula for infant formula released by the "Special Food Information Inquiry Platform" of the State Administration for Market Regulation. Among them, a total of 99 infant formula products were approved in the first quarter of 2024. According to the data of the special food information query platform of the State Administration for Market Regulation, as of March 31, 2024, the total number of formulas that have been registered under the new national standard is 1,126. Among them, the number of domestic formulas is 925, accounting for 82% of the overall formula, and the number of imported formulas is 201, accounting for 18% of the overall formula. The total number of formulations approved for registration in the first quarter of 2024 is 99. A total of 201 formulas of imported products have been registered and approved, and the overseas factories involved are located in countries including New Zealand, the Netherlands, Germany, Denmark, Switzerland, South Korea, France, Singapore and Ireland. They came from 9 countries, with New Zealand (67 formulations) having the largest number of registrations, accounting for 33.3% of the total number of imported formulations. New Zealand and the Netherlands are the main sources of infant formula milk powder in mainland China, accounting for 57.2% of the total number of imported formulas, ranking in the forefront of the world in the construction and management of milk sources, and the number of corresponding formula registrations is also ahead of other countries. 03Statistics on the types of approved formula products
With the recognition of the nutritional value of goat milk and the change of consumption structure, goat milk powder has received more and more attention. Among the approved formulas of new national standard infant formula products, 795 are milk formula, 618 are domestic milk formulas, and 177 are imported milk formulas. Among them, in the first quarter of 2024, there will be 43 domestic milk formulas, 34 domestic goat milk formulas, 12 imported milk formulas, and 10 imported goat milk formulas. Among the approved formulas, domestic milk formula powder is the mainstay, accounting for 54.9%. This is shown in Figure 2. 04Statistics on approved organic formulas
Organic infant formula is another industry outlet in the Chinese market in recent years after the rise of goat milk powder, and the number of organic products has been obtained is 93, of which the number of domestic organic formulas is 63, and the number of imported organic formulas is 30. The enterprises that have been registered under the new national standard mainly involve 79 companies, including Yili, Feihe, Mengniu, Junlebao, Mead Johnson, Nestle, Beinmei, Ausnutria, Abbott, Danone, Mingyi, FrieslandCampina, Wandashan, Huishan, Sanyuan, etc. At present, the company with the largest number of new national standard registered formulas is Feihe, which has obtained 63 new national standard registered formulas. The implementation of the new national standard is of great significance to meet the nutritional and health needs of Chinese infants and young children and ensure the safety of infant formula food. The new national standard puts forward higher requirements for enterprises, and some enterprises with weak R&D strength or weak market competitiveness take the initiative to withdraw from the infant formula milk powder industry, and the registration of the new national standard product formula also plays a positive role in reshaping the industry pattern and promoting high-quality development. At present, the approval work is still in progress, and some of the domestic infant formula food companies will be eliminated, and the concentration effect of the industry's head will be more obvious.
