In the field of farmer Sun Guifang, more than a dozen villagers are busy laying mulch, installing brackets, and sowing melon seeds.
This year, Sun Guifang planted six acres of melons. It mainly planted five varieties of yellow eggs, Xizhou honey, rock sugar pear, golden honey and white melon.
"After planting, it is carefully managed, watered, pinched, and crossed...... By the 20th of June, the golden honey can be marketed, like the Western Zhou honey, rock sugar pear, white melon due to the long growth cycle, until mid-July can not be marketed. Sun Guifang said.
Sun Guifang has been growing melons for more than ten years. According to her, the cultivated land of the 12 West Villages belongs to alkaline land, which is suitable for the growth of melons, and the melons grown are sweet and have a good taste, which are favored by the market, and the melon industry has become the "characteristic business card" of the 12 West Villages.
Cheng Jiangang, secretary of the general party branch of the 12 households in the west village, said that since the beginning of April, peasant households have begun to seize the good weather and actively plant melons, making a good start for the development of the melon field economy.
"This year, the area of melons planted is about 400 acres, there are 6 varieties, and the village's two committees' actively do a good job in the irrigation water work of the villagers, help the whole village to do a good job in spring ploughing, let the melons in our village float thousands of miles, and help the villagers increase their income and get rich.
