At 0:19 on the 17th, Sichuan Airlines Co., Ltd. flight 3U3811, carrying 270 passengers, took off from Chengdu Tianfu International Airport and headed for Auckland, the largest city in New Zealand, marking the official resumption of the Chengdu-Auckland route.

As the third direct route from Chengdu to Oceania, after the resumption of the Chengdu-Auckland route, it marks that Chengdu has connected Sydney, Melbourne and Auckland to three Oceania destinations, with more than 10 direct flights per week, which will strongly promote international personnel exchanges and economic and trade cooperation and exchanges.

The Chengdu-Auckland route is operated by an Airbus A350 widebody aircraft and lasts approximately 13 hours. After the official resumption of the route, there will be one round-trip direct flight per week. The outbound trip departs from Chengdu every Saturday at 1:05 a.m. Beijing time and arrives at 6:05 p.m. Auckland time, and the return trip departs at 11:00 a.m. a.m. Beijing time the next day and arrives in Chengdu at 8:00 p.m. Beijing time. Zheng Yang, general manager of the international/regional route management department of the Sichuan Airlines Commercial Committee, said in an interview that the occupancy rate of the first flight from Chengdu to Auckland is about 80%, and the passengers are mainly tourists, international students and business people, and the occupancy rate is expected to exceed 90% in the future. Li Wei, a passenger on the first flight, said that before he traveled from Chengdu to Auckland, he needed to transfer in Shenzhen or some cities in Australia, which took a long time, and the opening of direct flights saved a lot of time. According to the data provided by the Chengdu Port and Logistics Office, up to now, Chengdu International (Regional) regular direct passenger routes have resumed and expanded to 49, ranking fourth in the country and first in the central and western regions. As an important aviation hub, Chengdu has realized the resumption of flights to important intercontinental hubs such as Los Angeles in North America, Frankfurt and London in Europe, Melbourne and Sydney in Oceania, and the intercontinental passenger backbone route network connecting Europe, North America, Oceania and Africa has been basically formed, and the important destinations in Asia have basically achieved full coverage.
