During the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression, Zuoquan was the forefront of China's all-out War of Resistance and the main battlefield of the War of Resistance in North China. Because more than 150 party, government, and military leaders such as the Northern Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China and the headquarters of the Eighth Route Army were stationed in the area of Matian Town, the former Liao County (now Zuoquan County) for five years, it was known as the first county of China's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression, and was the hometown of the Eighth Route Army and the cradle of the soldiers.
It was once a place where Zhu De, Peng Dehuai, Liu Bocheng, Deng Xiaoping, Yang Shangkun and other revolutionaries of the older generation lived and fought for a long time. In May 1942, Zuo Quan, the highest-ranking general of the Eighth Route Army, died honorably during the breakout battle of "Cross Ridge" in Matian, and the original Liao County was renamed today's Zuoquan County.
During the Anti-Japanese War, a small mountainous county with only more than 70,000 people made outstanding contributions to the revolution, including 10,000 people supporting the front, 10,000 people participating in the war, and 10,000 people sacrificing themselves. "Peach blossoms are red, apricot blossoms are fragrant, and when you see Taihang, you think of your mother's ......" The famous "Taihang Milk Lady" is a great hero group in the old revolutionary base area of the left.
Zuoquan is also the birthplace of the "three-three system" democratic system, the beginning of democracy and the rule of law in New China, the place where the dawn of New China is lit, and one of the top ten red tourism cities in China.
