According to the data of the Wuhan Inspection Center of the China Automotive Center, the sales volume of medical special vehicles in mainland China in 2023 will be 10,466 units, and due to the opening of the epidemic in 2023, the demand for medical special vehicles will also decrease, and the sales volume will drop by 42.85% year-on-year.
In terms of monthly sales, due to the rebound of the epidemic in 2023, the sales of medical special vehicles in January and February were higher than those in the same period in 2022, and the sales in March were basically the same as the same period in 2022. In April, sales began to decline sharply, down 38.54% month-on-month. From April to December, sales remained at a low level of around 600 to 800 units, both lower than the same period in 2022.
From the perspective of production enterprises, the intensification of the industry reshuffle has become the general trend: a total of 140 companies will achieve sales in 2022, and the number has shrunk to 130 in 2023. Among the companies that sell more than 100 vehicles, the vast majority of companies have experienced varying degrees of decline. Among them, Zhengzhou Yutong even reached a year-on-year decline of 90.33%, and Yutong, which is the top three in the sales list in 22, will only sell 169 units in 2023. In addition, the sales of Chengli Special, Jiangxi Jiangling, and Hubei Wuhuan, which have advantages in the field of medical special vehicles, will decline by 52.94%, 57.57% and 55.22% year-on-year respectively in 2023, and the sales situation is not optimistic.
However, in the cold situation of the medical special vehicle market, dark horse companies have also emerged. The sales of Qingdao Sol, Hubei Juli and Hunan Tianyu achieved contrarian growth, up 14.63%, 62.54% and 95.48% year-on-year respectively, successfully ranking among the top ten. It is worth mentioning that Hubei Zhongkai, as a rising star in the field of medical special vehicles, will only sell 5 units in 2022, but its sales volume will leap forward in 2023, selling 243 units.
In the medical special vehicle market in 2023, the top three models are ambulances, medical vehicles, and disability transport vehicles, with 8,991, 843, and 501 units sold, respectively. Sales of most models declined, with sales of medical vehicles, medical examination vehicles and disinfection vehicles declining by 31.8%, 41.22% and 68.42% year-on-year respectively. However, it is worth mentioning that the sales of disabled transport vehicles increased by 47.35% year-on-year.
Ambulances, as an important part of medical vehicles, will see a sharp decline of nearly 50 percentage points in 2023 after reaching their peak sales in 2022, with only 8,991 units sold. The change in ambulance sales is closely related to the epidemic policy, and ambulance sales in 2023 have fallen back to the same level as in 2019. With the development of Internet +, ambulances will no longer be a simple special vehicle product concept, but through the management means of intelligent Internet of Vehicles, docking with the big data of emergency centers and hospitals, timely monitoring of vehicles, and sufficient safety guarantee for patients. It is an inevitable trend for the development of ambulances in the future to move the first aid function forward and make the ambulance more humane and more technological.
From the perspective of sales in various cities, the top 10 cities of medical special vehicles have changed blood, and Guangzhou, Wenzhou, Linyi, and Weifang have not been included in the list. The sales of Wuhan, Changsha and Chongqing, which ranked in the top three, were 236, 208 and 181 respectively, of which the sales of Wuhan and Chongqing fell slightly, while the sales of Changsha grew rapidly, soaring by nearly 80 percentage points year-on-year. In addition, the sales growth rate in Suizhou City is also very impressive, with 169 units sold, a year-on-year increase of 62.5%.
However, there are 15 cities with sales of more than 200 in 2022, and the number will plummet in 2023, with only two cities, Wuhan and Changsha. Even Zhengzhou, which topped the list in 2022, underperformed in 2023, selling only 170 units, down 62.88% year-on-year.
