Wang Rui, member of the Party Committee and deputy mayor of Rose Town, told reporters that Waishan Village used to focus on mineral development, but with the change of development concept and ecological protection, the village gradually eliminated this industry. Over the years, the relevant departments of Rose Town have been thinking about how to carry out ecological restoration of the mine and tap multiple values.
In the spring of 2023, this plan is on the agenda.
The ecological restoration of this mine was named "Pingyin County Outer Mountain Environmental Comprehensive Treatment and Improvement Project", and the delineated treatment area is 28,003 square meters. Wang Rui said that after backfilling slag and planting soil, building an ecological reservoir, laying a gravel square and other basic works, the environment under the mine has been significantly improved. On the hillside, a trail is built that is consistent with the shape of the Yellow River's "several" bends, and above the trail is set up several big characters of "Yellow River Ning, Tianxia Ping". Walking on the trail and looking at the magnificent Yellow River has become a kind of enjoyment for many tourists after the ecological restoration of the mine. Wang Rui said that through the creation of this main landscape, a new idea of developing the camping economy through ecological restoration projects has been opened - the goal of Rose Town is not only to make the mountain "green", but also to create a local characteristic cultural tourism brand.
Song Yang, assistant secretary of the party branch of Xiagou Village, Rose Town, who participated in the design of the project, said that this site has unique advantages as a campsite, "It is located in the narrowest part of the lower reaches of the Yellow River, the Aishan bayonet, opposite the Aishan Scenic Area of Liaocheng City, and the west side is close to the 'Goddess No. 1' tourist road built by Pingyin County, which is the only way for tourists." A few years ago, due to the relocation of the Yellow River beach area, the villagers of Waishan Village moved into a new community, and if the location of the mine can generate economic benefits, it will also help the collective income of the village. "Once the campsite was built, it quickly attracted tourists. The popularity has gathered, which naturally drives the vendors who operate catering and entertainment projects. Our villagers can earn a certain income by helping with cleaning, maintaining greenery, etc. Wang Zhen said that the village has also set up a tourism cooperative for this purpose, renting tents, tables and chairs and other camping necessities for tourists, and providing various ingredients. ”

"We need to find a way for tourists to not only come to enjoy the scenery and camping, but also to spend, so that we can really drive economic development. In the later stage, we plan to open a farmhouse and introduce children's entertainment facilities to make the operation more formal. It is expected that these projects will bring employment to more than 40 villagers. Talking about the future operation of the campsite, Wang Zhen said that it is necessary to gradually move towards "specialization" and make the current "Internet celebrity" become "ever-popular".
In the long-term plan of the outer mountain villages, the characteristic industry of the Yellow River Rose Campground will also bring a series of effects - not only can refine the six types of camping of the Yellow River camping, mine camping, flower camping, grassland camping, RV camping, and woodland camping, but also realize the integrated development of "agriculture, culture and tourism", transform the terraced fields on the south side of the campsite into a rape flower planting base, and develop the flower-viewing economy while processing and selling rapeseed oil, and improve the "camping +" industrial chain.
