Wu Tong was born in Beijing. He graduated from the Folk Dance Department of Beijing Dance Academy in 1981, and graduated from the Graduate School of the Chinese Academy of Arts and the first Graduate Class of Chinese Painting Creation of the China Academy of Art in 2007, under the tutelage of Mr. Xie Zhigao and Mr. Miao Zaixin. Vice President of China Ink Painting Academy, member of China Artists Association, founding member of China Gongbi Painting Society, painter and office director of Danqing Tribe-Miao Zaixin Art Studio, painter employed by China Academy of Art of China Media Group, art director of Tangzhuang Culture and Art Center, researcher of Contemporary Ink Painting Research Center of Shandong Normal University, master tutor of Academy of Fine Arts of Shaanxi Normal University.

Wu Tong's main creative direction is Chinese portrait painting, and he has created a large-scale work "Beijing Winter Olympics Fantasy" for the Beijing Winter Olympics Organizing Committee, and created portraits for United Nations Secretary-General Guterres, Russian President Putin, International Olympic Committee President Bach, etc., and his works have been collected by the National Art Museum of China, Chongqing Art Museum, Tianjin Art Museum, Guangdong Museum of Art, Zhejiang Art Museum, Hunan Art Museum, etc.
