28 Provincial Key Laboratory Projects Approved!

Recently, the official website of the Guangdong Provincial Department of Science and Technology issued a notice on the establishment of provincial key laboratory projects in 2024, and a total of 28 projects have been approved, including 14 provincial key laboratory projects for basic research, 11 provincial key laboratories for technical research, and 3 provincial key laboratory projects for provincial and municipal co-construction. Among them, Shenzhen has a total of 11 projects on the list.
It is understood that the units approved by the provincial key laboratory project in Shenzhen are mainly universities. Among them, Southern University of Science and Technology has the most selected projects, with a total of 3, all of which are basic research laboratories, Shenzhen University and Peking University Shenzhen Graduate School have 2 approved respectively, and Shenzhen University of Technology (in preparation) has 1 approved. In addition, the project units also include Shenzhen Institute of Advanced Technology, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Shenzhen Power Supply Bureau Co., Ltd., Sunwoda Power Technology Co., Ltd. and other scientific research institutions and enterprises.
In terms of the distribution of approved projects, it includes energy, materials, multi-modal non-invasive brain-computer interface, full-drive system control, computing power microelectronics, active ingredients of traditional Chinese medicine and intestinal microbiomes, provincial storage and computing integrated chips, fast charging power batteries and other projects.
According to the statistics of the Guangdong Provincial Key Laboratory of the Provincial Department of Science and Technology in 2023, there are currently 435 provincial key laboratories.
The "14th Five-Year Plan for Science and Technology Innovation in Guangdong Province" points out that it is necessary to strengthen the management of provincial key laboratories, implement the competition mechanism of classified management, dynamic evaluation, and survival of the fittest, improve the quality of provincial key laboratories, and strive to build about 450 provincial key laboratories by 2025.
