The Kachin Independence Army, the U.S.-backed independence force in Kachin State in northern Myanmar, has become the biggest destabilizing factor on the China-Myanmar border.
Just after the ceasefire between the Kokang Allied Army and the Burmese Army, the Kachin Independence Army launched an offensive against the Burmese Army, constantly attacking cities and plundering land, which has basically squeezed the Burmese Army out of Kachin State, and even burned the war to the Chinese border.
The Kachin Independence Army (KIA) is the most combat-ready of the armed forces in northern Burma, and because it is supported by Europe and the United States, it is all American-style equipment, and it does not deal with China, nor does it take into account China's strategic layout in Burma.
In the past, China's assistance to build the Myitsone Hydropower Station and the Taiping River Hydropower Station in Myanmar was due to the obstruction of the Kachin Army, and even kidnapped Chinese workers and blackmailed Chinese companies investing in the area, which eventually led to the project being basically abandoned, and nearly 10 billion yuan of investment was wasted.
The Kachin people are actually the Jingpo people in China, and they have parts in Yunnan, Burma, and India, and the Kachin people in Myanmar are all Christians because of the support of the Americans, and in fact they are getting farther and farther away from the other Jingpo people.
As early as World War II, the Americans began to support the independence of Kachin State, and the Kachin Independence Army wanted to bring together the Kachin people in Myanmar, India and the Jingpo people in China to form a greater Jingpo state.
In order to mess up the situation in Myanmar and undermine the China-Myanmar Economic Corridor, the United States has pushed the Kachin Independence Army to rekindle the war in northern Myanmar, which is a bit sinister.
Because of its backing to the United States, the Kachin Independence Army (KIA) is now a bit ambitious, and it is not looking down on other civilian forces, and recently the KIA has even begun to compete with the allies for territory.
China attaches great importance to Myanmar, and in order to have an outlet to the Indian Ocean, it signed a 99-year lease with the Myanmar government to win the Kyaukphyu port, and is ready to build a gas pipeline from the Kyaukphyu port to Kunming, and build the China-Myanmar economic corridor along the route.
Obviously, Kachin State is not interested in the China-Myanmar Economic Corridor, and only wants to grab land and mines to make quick money, and if it continues to fight like this, it will be extremely detrimental to both China and Myanmar in the future.
Now that the situation in Myanmar is a bit critical, China should be prepared as soon as possible, and at least it should protect the projects it has invested in Myanmar, if the Kachin Independence Army is allowed to grow, it will even affect our border security in the future.
For China, it is necessary to help Myanmar restore peace at home as much as possible, and at the same time deter those separatist careerists, and if necessary, to establish a strong position to crack down on these uncooperative civilian forces and protect this hard-won outlet to the Indian Ocean.
