Rich brothers and sisters, Bentley is going to update its own Continental GT, the new prototype car was recently captured by a car spy photographer, this article we will take a look at the new Bentley Continental GT What's new?
The prototype test vehicle captured this time was a convertible version, and the coupe version was also captured earlier. The Continental GT currently on sale was introduced in 2018 and is time for an update, with the new car expected to go on sale later in 2024.
However, judging from the spy photo prototype, the appearance of this update has not changed much, mainly focusing on the headlight cluster, and there may be new changes in the internal assembly of the four-eye headlights.
While it may not seem like much of a change on the surface, the mechanics will be undergoing major changes. Previously, Bentley announced that in April 2024, Bentley's classic W-12 6.0T twin-turbo engine will be completely discontinued, and the previously launched Batur Limited Edition Coupe Continental GT will be the last model to be powered by the W-12 engine.
Is the Continental GT still a Bentley without a 12-cylinder?
Bentley decided to use a plug-in hybrid system to make up for the lack of power performance, the new car is expected to use a 4.0T V8 with a drive motor on the gearbox to assemble a plug-in hybrid system, this system is currently used in a number of Volkswagen products, such as the new Porsche Cayenne and Panamera, the overall performance of the system can reach 670hp, which is very close to the 740hp performance of the previous Continental GT Batur limited edition.
Of course, the new model will also offer a more entry-level plug-in hybrid system, which will consist of a 2.9T twin-turbo V6 and a drive motor to form a plug-in hybrid system, which is currently installed on the Bentayga and Flying Spur, and is already available in parallel import channels, with a total system power of 400kW.
Bentley Motors plans to electrify all of its products over the next decade, with individual models being replaced by electric models at the end of their respective life cycles, and Bentley's first all-electric model is expected to be launched by the end of 2026, when Bentley will usher in a new era of electrification, whether it will be a new series or an SUV.
