Preface
On a warm summer night in 1997, four characters with their own unique stories left a group photo in an ordinary but life-like restaurant in Shenzhen.
The photographs are not well known, but the stories behind each character are fascinating.

Han Aijing, the first person sitting on the left, and Kuai Dafu next to her, both of whom are the same age, both are 52 years old, and their life trajectories have many similarities with their companions next to them.
These two characters were once eye-catching existences in that era, but they also experienced the ups and downs and challenges of fate.
Wang Dabin sits in second place, slightly older, at 56 years old, and his life story is in stark contrast to the two on the left.
And perhaps the most eye-catching is Ao Benli, who sits first on the right. Although he may not be well known in contemporary times, Ao Benli's life is also full of twists and turns.
After graduating from the Capital University of Finance and Economics, he used to be beautiful, but the twists and turns of fate made him spend four years in Qincheng Prison.
Behind this photograph are four separate but mutually influencing life journeys.
It's not just a simple group photo, it's a microcosm of an era and a society, telling how four people experienced setbacks on their respective paths, sought rebirth, and finally left their shared memories in the restaurant on that summer night.
Red Family, Red Seeds
In September 1945, a month after Japan's unconditional surrender, Kuai Dafu was born into a revolutionary red family in Binhai County, Jiangsu Province, China.
In this family, the story and spirit of the revolution are part of everyday life, his grandfather was a soldier in the New Fourth Army, and his parents were both loyal communists.
Since he was a child, Kuai Dafu grew up in such an environment, and was not only influenced by the glory of the family, but also by his father's profound teachings on education.
His father often emphasized that only through hard work and hard work, becoming a thoughtful person, can he truly shine and do his best for the motherland.
So when Kuai Dafu was still an eight-year-old child, he was able to repeat his father's words endlessly.
He was able to do this not out of boredom or boredom, but because he knew the meaning behind it – an expectation that had been passed down from generation to generation, a vision of the future of their children from fathers who had not been well educated by the war.
It was driven by such a family atmosphere and the expectations of his parents that Kuai Dafu stepped into the door of the school and started his own learning journey.
His father's words and deeds became his compass on the way forward, guiding him to constantly strive towards the goal of becoming a literate successor to the revolution.
Strive to become the successor of the party
From the moment he stepped into the school, Kuai Dafu was significantly distinguished from his peers in primary school with his perseverance in learning, and became a leader in the village school.
Kuai Dafu easily crossed the threshold of entering junior high school, and in this new environment, his parents encouraged him to try boarding life.
This is not only to exercise his ability to live independently, but also to hope that he can continue to maintain and carry forward his previous study habits in the new environment.
In junior high school, Kuai Dafu did not feel complacent because of his previous grades, on the contrary, his enthusiasm for learning was even higher, and he continued to maintain an excellent learning attitude and grades.
Kuai Dafu's interest is not limited to book knowledge. Influenced by his family background, he has a keen interest in political activities and is actively involved in various activities organized by the school.
Improve your organizational and leadership skills through practice. The experience of living independently has made him appear more mature and stable than his peers.
These qualities, combined with his ability to socialize well in group life, soon made him an indispensable member of the school organization.
Therefore, in order to support him in continuing his studies, they even did not hesitate to borrow money to ensure that he could enter the high school classroom smoothly.
After entering high school, Kuai Dafu was quickly selected as a student leader with his ability and enthusiasm, and became an active participant and organizer of school activities.
At the same time, his academic performance remains at the top level. Such a comprehensive performance soon earned him the recognition of the school, and soon he was honored to join the Komsomol and became one of the few members of the era.
Kuai Dafu launched an attack on Tsinghua University, a higher academic palace. After an intense and challenging college entrance examination, he was finally accepted into the Department of Engineering Chemistry of Tsinghua University with excellent results.
Dark clouds crushed the city
In the spring breeze of 1966, the big-character posters of Nie Yuanzi and others spread like a whirlwind through the streets and alleys of China through the Central Radio, triggering a fierce rebellion that covered the whole country.
In the midst of this movement, he courageously offered to debate with the head of the working group based at Tsinghua University, hoping to express his views and understanding of the tense political atmosphere at the time.
Unfortunately, his views were not accepted and he was detained. Despite his misfortune, the experience did not end his political path.
Later, due to various reasons, Kuai Dafu not only regained his freedom, but also actively participated in the creation and construction of the Jinggangshan Corps of Tsinghua University, and soon became a key leader of the Corps.
By May 1968, Kuai Dafu, as the leader of the Jinggangshan Corps, not only organized the core headquarters of the cultural offensive and military defense, but also led the fierce confrontation between the two major factions within Tsinghua.
In particular, in the early hours of May 30, when he attacked opposition mass organizations, Kuai Dafu demonstrated his decision-making and leadership skills.
But the operation also caused heavy casualties and economic losses: eighteen people were killed, more than 30 suffered lifelong injuries, and more than 1,100 people were injured, with direct economic losses of more than 10 million yuan, which was a huge fortune at the time.
This series of martial arts fights was not limited to Tsinghua University, its influence spread to Peking University, Beijing Normal University and other institutions of higher learning, triggering a large-scale on-campus martial arts.
In order to quell the conflict, on July 27, the team was dispatched to Tsinghua University. But they faced resolute resistance under the command of Kuai Dafu, which even led to the tragic death of five members of the workers' propaganda team and the injury of more than 700 people.
In 1970, Kuai Dafu was subjected to a three-year censorship, an experience that was undoubtedly a profound test of his life.
After review, he was reassigned to a factory in Beijing to supervise labor, a huge change in the life and role of the former Tsinghua student and leader.
In 1978, Kuai Dafu's fate took another major turn, he was publicly arrested at the Tsinghua University Faculty and Student Conference, and was reprimanded by Han Aijing, Wang Dabin and other "five leaders", and finally sentenced to 17 years in prison.
Bitter and sweet, go to the sea to start a business
Later, Kuai Dafu, who had experienced ups and downs, was fortunate to find a new job opportunity at the Qingtongxia Aluminum Factory in Ningxia through the recommendation of an old classmate.
There, he met Luo Xiaobo from Peking University, and the two lonely hearts quickly brought each other closer together, eventually coming together and deciding to marry after two years of living together.
After that, they ushered in the crystallization of love - a lovely daughter, which made this small family full of joy and hope.
But as the family grows, so does the financial pressure on life. In order to get rid of the economic troubles and improve their living conditions, Kuai Dafu and Luo Xiaobo decided to use their savings to join the business world.
After several years of unremitting struggle, they have finally accumulated a certain amount of wealth, hoping to settle down in this fast-growing economic city.
But when they went to apply for a hukou with great expectations, they were told that due to certain behaviors of Kuai Dafu during the "special period", they could not settle in Shenzhen.
A wave of unevenness has risen again and again
Faced with the problem of settling in Shenzhen, Kuai Dafu came up with a clever idea and put forward a plan: he and Luo Xiaobo first carried out a nominal "divorce", and then transferred the real estate under his name to Luo Xiaobo.
After the transfer of the property is completed, the two will be reunited to avoid the obstacles to settlement.
Everything seems to be going smoothly according to plan, until the remarriage process, Kuai Dafu never waits for the day when Luo Xiaobo fulfills the agreement, and she always finds various reasons to prevaricate.
After a long time, Kuai Dafu felt that things were not simple, and he began to search around for the truth, and was finally shocked to find that Luo Xiaobo had established a new relationship with another person.
The news was like a bolt from the blue, making Kuai Dafu feel both angry and full of disappointment, and he could only confide his pain to his friends.
With the encouragement and help of his friends, Kuai Dafu decided to take action, and after some negotiations, Luo Xiaobo finally agreed to transfer one of the properties to their mutual daughter as compensation for the end of the marriage.
As the turmoil subsided, their daughter hoped that Kuai Dafu could live with them, believing that it would be easier to take care of Kuai Dafu.
However, after experiencing this great change in his life, Kuai Dafu chose a more independent life path, and he decided to move into a nursing home, not wanting to bring more burden and trouble to his daughter.
When the time came to 1997, Wang Dabin, Han Aijing and others, who had bullied Kuai Dafu, gathered in Shenzhen to apologize for their mistakes back then.
Of course, behind this photo, there should actually be two important people - Nie Yuanzi and Tan Houlan. Nie Yuanzi was unable to attend the event due to his advanced age, while Tan Houlan missed the gathering due to his early death.

Time flies, and with the precipitation of the years, those once bloody days have become distant memories.
Now, Tan Houlan and Nie Yuanzi have passed away, and the few old people left behind - Han Aijing, Kuai Dafu and Ao Benli have entered the twilight of their lives.
Although they may have been swallowed up by the great waves of history, as witnesses and witnesses of that turbulent era, their stories and experiences still leave deep traces in the long river of history.
