This year is a year of great change for SAIC-GM Chevrolet, because sales are not as expected, coupled with the price pressure of Buick and Cadillac, there are already many reliable sources showing that Chevrolet plans to gradually stop producing its own sedan line from this year and focus on SUVs.
At present, among the models with better sales of the Chevrolet brand, there are many sedans, such as Chevrolet Cruze and Chevrolet Malibu, an A-class car and a B-class car, with the huge discount of the market terminal, there is still a place, but because the discount is too big, it does not make money, so the adjustment of Chevrolet is mainly to improve its operating profits, so it chose to give up the sedan product line and focus on the SUV product line with higher profit margins.
This car is not only a new SUV, but also equipped with a new generation of PHEV plug-in hybrid technology, after the subsequent launch, we guess that the main competitors will include the current popular BYD, Geely Galaxy, Changan Qiyuan and other brand models.
As a compact SUV, the new generation model has a strong American style design, and it also provides RS kit for selection, which further adds to the sporty atmosphere.
In terms of size, referring to the overseas version of the model, the length of the Explorer PLUS is about 4.65 meters, and the wheelbase is about 2.73 meters, and the overall product level is at the level of a standard compact SUV.
In terms of interior, the explorer PLUS will be equipped with Chevrolet's latest design, including the latest three styles of the steering wheel, and a large screen in the central control screen area.
In terms of equipment, the new car will be equipped with an 11-inch LCD instrument cluster and an 11.3-inch central control screen, as well as an active safety system and driver assistance system.
In terms of power, the PHEV technology carried by the explorer PLUS is understood to be P13 architecture, which can realize series-parallel hybrid, and the engine uses a 1.5T hybrid special machine, with GM's many technical accumulations in the ultra-electric platform, as well as the tuning skills of the Pan Asia R&D center to deeply cultivate the Chinese market, which can achieve a better balance between performance and fuel saving.
However, up to now, the core indicators of this plug-in hybrid system, including battery capacity, system power, feed fuel consumption, and acceleration of 100 kilometers, have not been officially announced, and we will continue to pay attention to them in the future.
