BYD will launch the Seal Glory Edition again, and the price of high-end models will be reduced by up to 30,000 yuan
On March 25, the BYD Seal Glory Edition was officially launched, with an official guide price of 179,800 yuan to 249,800 yuan, providing three endurance versions, four power configurations, and five configuration models. Among them, the guide price of the Honor version of the 550km elite model is 179,800 yuan, the 550km premium model is 192,800 yuan, the 700km premium model is 202,800 yuan, the 700km performance version is 219,800 yuan, and the 650km four-wheel drive performance version is 249,800 yuan.
Compared with the starting price of 189,800 yuan for the 2023 Champion Edition, the starting price of the Seal Glory Edition has dropped by 10,000 yuan. The price of the high-end version of the model has been reduced even more, with the price of the 700km version being reduced by about 20,000 yuan, and the price of the 650km four-wheel drive version being reduced by 30,000 yuan.
According to reports, the BYD Seal Glory Edition continues the excellent product power of the seal model: CTB battery body integration technology, iTAC intelligent torque control technology, rear-wheel drive / four-wheel drive architecture, front double wishbone and rear five-link independent suspension, the fastest 000 acceleration is 3.8 seconds, the power is charged from 30% to 80% in only 30 minutes, and the pure electric range is up to 700km.
Seals are the youngest force in BYD's marine series. Sales data shows that since its launch at the end of August 2022, the cumulative sales of the seal have exceeded 50,000 units in less than 5 months. As of the end of February 2024, the cumulative sales of BYD seals have exceeded 140,000 units.
According to the analysis of industry insiders, as a pure electric sports coupe of Ocean Network, Seal is deeply loved by young users after its listing. BYD Seal has not only gained a firm foothold in the mid-level sedan segment that has long been dominated by mainstream joint venture brands, but also broke the boundary between new energy and traditional fuel vehicles. The launch of the Seal Honor Edition further strengthens its competitive advantage in the mid-class sedan segment.
After the beginning of this year, BYD launched the "first shot" of the price war in the new energy vehicle market, and successively launched Qin PLUS Glory Edition, Destroyer 05 Glory Edition, Hantang Glory Edition, Dolphin Glory Edition, Song PLUS Glory Edition, Seal DM-i Glory Edition, Song Pro DM-i Glory Edition and other models.
In each price segment, BYD quickly completed the layout of the Glory Edition, directly pushing the automobile era from "the same price of oil and electricity" to "electricity is lower than oil", and launched a "big battle" for joint venture fuel vehicles.
According to the analysis of China Post Securities, from the perspective of the price of passenger cars, the price band of about 100,000-150,000 yuan is the mainstream range of consumer car purchases, accounting for 34% of the share. In this price band, the competition is the most intense, and the traditional fuel joint venture car brands have a large historical share advantage, and the best-selling models include Sylphy, Lavida, Sutar, Corolla, Civic, Leiling, etc.
China Post Securities believes that taking Qin plus DM-i as an example, the starting price is 79,800 yuan, which has a price advantage of more than 20,000 yuan compared with the above-mentioned hot-selling fuel vehicle models, and at the same time, the vehicle-machine interaction is more intelligent, the interior cockpit is more modern, and the product competitiveness is outstanding. This time, BYD played the slogan of "electricity is lower than oil" and "end the war of oil and electricity". The biggest impact of this round of price reductions will be the traditional joint venture fuel vehicles with a price of around 100,000 yuan.
Changjiang Securities said that the Honor Edition further strengthened the terminal competitiveness of existing models, and with the inventory adjustment in place, the follow-up company's product cycle is strong, and new cars and facelifted models are expected to contribute to the increase.
