When I first saw that Wuling was going to launch Binguo PLUS, many people, including me, thought that it was just a simple lengthened and increased version of the current Binguo to cope with the increasingly fierce market involution. And now after the official launch, I found that it has changed so much compared to Binguo that it can almost be seen as a new model.

89,800 to 98,800, what is the difference between Binguo PLUS and the current Binguo?

What kind of car is Binguo PLUS?

At the beginning, in addition to the word Binguo, Binguo PLUS and Binguo are essentially two different models.

Binguo PLUS is still an A0-class small hatchback, in terms of body length, width and wheelbase, it has increased compared with Binguo, and the body has officially broken through 4 meters:

Binguo's body size is half a circle larger than that of the Seagull, and the larger Binguo PLUS has completely opened up the gap with the Seagull in terms of volume, approaching BYD's higher-positioned dolphin, and it is also comparable to Ora Good Cat.

However, it is worth noting that the body height of Binguo PLUS is 1575mm, which is 5mm lower than Binguo, which is a small reduction, but it reflects Binguo PLUS's need to reduce wind resistance and improve battery life.

As we mentioned before, Binguo's ride and storage space are pretty good, but that's based on the positioning of the scooter for daily commuting in the city. If you want to go the middle and long distances, Binguo's overall space, comfort, power and endurance are all stretched.

The positioning of Binguo PLUS is no longer limited to daily commuting, its riding and storage space have been further increased, with the foundation of long-distance family travel, and at the same time, the power and battery life have been greatly improved, which greatly expands the applicable scenarios compared with Binguo.

In terms of design, although Binguo PLUS continues the rounded styling style of Binguo, there are many changes in the details, such as the headlights are a little more angular, and the hollow air ducts on both sides of the front are designed, which in addition to the shape, also helps to reduce wind resistance.

On the side of the body, the changes of Binguo PLUS are more obvious, Binguo's waistline is gentle as a whole, while Binguo PLUS is obviously upward from front to back, with more swooping dynamics.

Coming to the rear of the car, whether it is the shape of the tailgate or the taillights, Binguo PLUS and Binguo do not have much similarity. What are the advantages and disadvantages?

Binguo PLUS has launched two configurations, the prices are 8.98 and 98,800 respectively, the threshold is higher than the top configuration of Binguo, but the mainstream evaluation of this pricing in the market is mostly praise, and the reason behind it is naturally a practical product improvement.

3. Power and speed improvement

Previously, Binguo was only suitable for travel, in addition to the short battery life, the more important thing is that its power and top speed are average. The high-power version also has a top speed of only 68 hp and 120 km/h, and can actually only run about 100 km/h at most on the highway, which limits the customer's desire to drive it far away.

In addition, Binguo PLUS is also equipped with fast charging as standard, 30-80% charging can be completed in half an hour, which is equivalent to replenishing more than 200 kilometers of battery life in a short time. If it is not a long journey of hundreds of kilometers, Binguo PLUS can basically meet the needs in terms of space, loading capacity, power, charging, battery life and other aspects.

4. The cockpit has excellent texture and rich functional details

Compared with the largest competitors Seagull and Dolphin, the cockpit design of Binguo PLUS is characterized by freshness and simplicity. There are opinions on the aesthetic level, but the acceptability of the interior of Binguo PLUS is indeed wider than that of seagulls and dolphins with outstanding design sense, especially for middle-aged and older family customers, it is easier to reach a consensus on the interior design of Binguo PLUS.

In addition, as a model of less than 100,000 yuan, the texture and materials of the Binguo PLUS cockpit are all out of the grade. The center console, door panels, armrests, and other parts are all softly wrapped in leather in all parts that are not black. The front and rear seats are finely perforated, coupled with a larger size LCD instrument and central control screen, the atmosphere and texture of the entire cockpit really exceed everyone's general expectations for models within 100,000.

In terms of functional details, Wuling designers have also put a lot of thought into it, such as the two cup holders on the central armrest, which have different depths and can be adapted to large water cups and small coffee cups for takeaway. The above are a few core advantages of Binguo PLUS, so what are its shortcomings?

If you put aside the price, there are indeed shortcomings, such as 102 horsepower power, which can run at high speeds, but it is definitely more difficult to accelerate and overtake.

In addition, the Binguo PLUS uses 185/60 R15 tires, while the Dolphin starts with 195/60 R16 and reaches 205/50 R17. Wider, larger tires for noticeably better handling and high-speed stability.

In terms of chassis suspension, Binguo PLUS still uses a non-independent rear suspension with a torsion beam structure, while the Dolphin Glory Edition has been upgraded to a four-link independent rear overhang.

Finally, passive safety, Binguo PLUS comes standard with front exhaust airbags and front and rear side airbags, but there are no head airbags, and these are standard on the Dolphin, and the top configuration of the Seagull is also equipped with 6 airbags.

These are indeed insufficient compared to the biggest competitors, but considering the price of Bingo PLUS, these are basically acceptable. From the perspective of comprehensive cost performance, Binguo PLUS is indeed the leader in the current small electric vehicles.

Can it become a hit?

At present, among the A0-level small electric cars, Seagull, Dolphin, and Binguo have become popular models, of which Seagull is a super hit with monthly sales of 30,000+, and Dolphin and Binguo often sell more than 20,000 units per month, which are far more than other products of the same level.

With this premise, Binguo PLUS is still very likely to become a hit, although it is more expensive than Binguo, but Binguo's best-selling 333km Lingxi interconnected model, the price itself is as high as 83,800, which means that consumers are willing to spend more than 80,000 yuan to buy this kind of large-space scooter.

In contrast, Binguo PLUS's product power and applicable scenarios have been qualitatively improved compared with Binguo, but the price is only a few thousand to 10,000 yuan more than Binguo's top configuration, which is still much lower than the dolphin's kingpin configuration, and Binguo PLUS has a lot of places beyond dolphins in terms of product power.

In fact, Binguo PLUS is not only affected by the A0 electric hatchback, after having a long range of 510 kilometers, Binguo PLUS can already replace some fuel cars, taking on the role of the main car of the family. For consumers who want to try electric but have a limited budget, Binguo PLUS is basically the first choice that can afford a family car within 100,000 yuan.

Therefore, the sales potential of Binguo PLUS is indeed very large, and unlike BYD's price war, Binguo PLUS not only lowers the price, but also opens up a new category in the electric market within 100,000 yuan, broadening the use scenarios and customer base. After the appearance of this car, it may not be long before more long-range electric models will appear around 100,000.
