According to myths and legends, Nuwa spent seven days creating all kinds of creatures in the world, and since the creation of man was on the seventh day, the ancients designated the seventh day of the first lunar month as "human day".

Chaoshan people are of course quite familiar with the meaning of various vegetables in the seven kinds of soup, for example, "eating garlic is rich", "囥", the meaning of saving money, and eating celery means hard work, eating spring vegetables means that you can show your strength when you return to the earth in spring, eating thick vegetables means being kind and good, that is, getting along with others, and so on.
There are also rumors in Shantou that "seven kinds of soup, after eating, it becomes a posterior". On the seventh day of the first lunar month, I eat seven kinds of soup, hoping to become younger after eating. Chaoshan people use wisdom and wisdom to not only refine the ancient food custom of seven kinds of soup into colloquialisms and folk songs, but also accumulate a lot of agricultural proverbs and sayings about vegetables in thousands of years of labor and production, which has a rich meaning.
Chaoshan people often say, "New Year's son-in-law (son-in-law), February leek", the first month of the son-in-law generally comes to the door to visit the father-in-law and mother-in-law, and the father-in-law and mother-in-law of course value it. The leeks in February are the most timely, the most delicious and the most tender. And radish (Chaoyu pronounced "cabbage"), generally eaten in winter, the most seasonal, the most nutritious. There is also a folk saying that "if you eat cabbage in winter and ginger in summer, the doctor will starve to death without any profit." According to Ji Shaobin, a famous Guangdong culinary teacher and senior cook, eating radish in this season will clear heat and reduce fire, and people say that Spring Festival radish is like a tonic, and it is eaten as ginseng.
"Eating cabbage in winter and ginger in summer, doctors don't make money and starve to death", it is described that if we are willing to adhere to this dietary habit, it will be very good for the body, so good that we don't need to go to the doctor, and the doctor will have no money to make.
