Mavericks consecutive trades: 3 for 3 to send away Gwee + Curry Jr. Washington assists Doncic and Irving to win the championship

On February 9, Beijing time, according to ESPN's WOJ, the Mavericks reached two deals in succession, sending away Holmes, Curry Jr., Gwee and draft picks, getting Gafford from the Wizards and PJ Washington from the Hornets respectively, and Irving and Doncic won consecutive championship helpers.

The Mavericks and Wizards are close to a deal, with the Mavericks trading Holmes and draft picks to the Wizards for Daniel Gafford and the Mavericks to bolster the interior, averaging a career-high 10.9 points, 8 rebounds and 2.2 blocks per game this season, in addition to 1.5 assists and 1 steal while shooting 69 percent from the field.

The Mavericks continued to operate after bringing in Gafford and they made another deal with the Hornets - the Mavericks sent Grant Williams, Seth Curry and a 2027 top-two pick to protect the first-round pick, and the Hornets traded PJ Washington + two second-round picks.

According to salary expert Bobby Marks, the Mavericks sent their only tradeable first-round pick in the next seven years, and the Mavericks currently have two second-round picks to trade, in 2025 (from the Raptors) and 2028 (from the Heat).

Last summer, the Mavericks acquired Gwee from the Celtics through a three-way trade and signed him to a four-year, $54 million contract, and now the Mavericks have traded Gwee to the Hornets before the season is over.

So far this season, Gwee has played in 47 games (33 starts) for the Mavericks, averaging 8.1 points, 3.6 rebounds and 1.7 assists in 26.4 minutes per game, shooting 41.3% from the field and 37.6% from three-point range, Curry Jr. has played in 36 games, averaging only 4.3 points and 1.4 rebounds per game, and shooting 36.3% from three-point range.

So far this season, PJ Washington has played in 44 games, averaging 13.6 points, 5.3 rebounds and 2.2 assists per game, hitting 1.8 three-pointers per game, and shooting 45/32/71% from three;

Regarding the Mavericks' recruitment to Washington, Lakers reporter Dan Woike tweeted his envy, he wrote: The Mavericks are much stronger today. Clippers reporter Farbod Esnaashari commented: The Clippers can't afford to ask for PJ-Washington.

As previously reported, the Clippers have been interested in PJ Washington.

Through the trade, the Mavericks have successively brought in Gafford and PJ Washington, who will assist Doncic and Irving to impact the championship, and the Mavericks are currently 28-23 and ranked 8th in the West, 2 wins behind the Pelicans in 6th place in the West.
