On February 5, 2024, fan designer Minibrick Productions' Interstellar won 10,000 votes on the LEGO IDEAS platform and was selected as the No. 13 candidate in the first round of IDEAS review in 2024.
About the author
The author of this piece is Minibrick Productions, aka Marc, a young mechanical engineering student from California. In his spare time, he loves to draw and often combines this passion with LEGO to design his own MOC creations and share them on social media.
Marc may be no stranger to some LEGO enthusiasts, but he runs a LEGO-themed channel on YouTube that regularly posts all sorts of fun LEGO-related content, and now has nearly 90,000 followers.
What's more, the LEGO IDEAS set 21345 Polaroid OneStep SX-70 camera launched in January this year was created by Minibrick Productions.
In the final production version of the set, Marc cleverly added a photo of his sister to subtly incorporate the family's creative inspiration into the LEGO IDEAS set.
Since joining the IDEAS platform 6 years ago, Marc has submitted nearly 30 MOC works. His Interstellar work was submitted on September 11, 2023, and after 147 days of waiting, it finally won 10,000 votes.
Together with the previous Polaroid camera and this latest Interstellar Series, Minibrick Productions has a total of 5 productions that have managed to reach the milestone of 10,000 votes.

With this work, Minibrick has recreated the Ranger starship from Interstellar, and now we have the chance to join this sci-fi spaceship in the LEGO world and explore the depths of space together!
This LEGO brick-based Ranger starship is built to minifigure scale and is made from 532 pieces.
The bare appearance is quite restored compared to the original spaceship of the movie. In terms of overall styling, Minibrick has outlined the special shape of the spaceship by using shape-accurate parts, and has expressed it through custom printing patterns in places that cannot be restored using parts.
In addition to the white rounded fuselage, the black circle of small inclined wings has also been restored, but because the original tilting wings are too sharp, the existing Lego parts are not particularly close to this shape, and the similarity of this part is not so high.
The details of the ship's tail are also achieved through printed parts, which has the same feel as the Super Racer series, and if this set is productive, expect to get two large stickers. Due to the minifigure-scale size of the ship, the aft rear hatch can be opened and closed for easy entry and exit.
In order to play and recreate the plot of the movie, this work includes not only the iconic Ranger starship, but also the minifigures of Cooper and Dr. Brand, as well as two intelligent robots, CASE and TARS.
The ship's top hatch can be easily removed for further insight into the interior. The interior of the ship is also rich in decorative details, which looks just like the cockpit in the movie. The space here can accommodate two figures and a partner TARS or CASE who are exploring space together.
Players can put Cooper and Dr. Brand minifigures inside to simulate piloting a ship. However, due to the limited height of the spaceship, the two minifigures can only fly the spaceship in a near-flat position, which looks inexplicably joyful.
