Winter is not the best season for carp fishing, but it does not mean that you can't fish, carp's cold tolerance is not bad, theoretically it will open all year round, of course, there are also days when the appetite is not strong, the Air Force is normal.
This article is mainly aimed at the southern region, not that the carp in the north do not open their mouths in winter, but because the temperature in the north is low and the river is frozen, and I have never played ice fishing~
There are many anglers who think that carp do not open their mouths in winter, the reason is that they are rarely caught, and the main reason for not catching them is because of the wrong method, such as not choosing a good fishing position, not suitable fishing method, etc. Or that everyone's focus is wrong, you always study irrelevant things such as drifting and bait, which naturally has no obvious help for fishing!
The first thing to do when fishing for carp in winter: the choice of fishing position
The choice of fishing position must be the top priority, not to mention that it is the most important thing, at least it can be ranked in the top three, and the study of fishing position is definitely better than your research on bait and the study of how many fishing.
Many people say that you can't catch carp in winter, that's because you don't fish well, you don't have a specific fishing method, and you feel that carp don't open their mouths in winter. Even if it is fishing, it is mainly crucian carp fishing, and by the way, it is also a carp fishing.
In other seasons, these two kinds of fish can also be taken into account, but not in winter, the fishing position alone is very different, fishing crucian carp is relatively simple, fishing grass holes, grass crevices can be, the water depth requirements are not high, dozens of centimeters, more than one meter.
Carp is different, the best place to fish carp in winter is to find an underwater hurdle, that is, the second hurdle. If you don't have such a spot, then look for deep pits, especially in places where fishing is not deep, and if you can find a deep pit, you will find fish.
Secondly, near the bridge pier, next to the fallen tree, at the junction of deep and shallow (Erdaokanjiu belongs to the junction of deep and shallow), or near a large grassy area, it is a very good fishing position.
Note that crucian carp fishing grass holes and grass crevices work very well, but carp is different, grass fishing is not the first choice, even if you want to fish, you still fish grass edges instead of grass holes!
The second thing to do in winter carp fishing: the choice of water depth and distance
The choice of fishing positions mentioned above can be summed up as messy bottoms, or different depths, or shelters, or obstacles.
In fact, the choice of water depth and distance also belongs to the category of fishing positions in the strict sense, and I just want to emphasize its importance.
Crucian carp fishing generally does not fish too deep, even if the temperature is very low in winter, as long as there are enough aquatic weeds and do not freeze, we can still fish deep and shallow, dozens of centimeters can be connected to the rod of large plate carp.
Carp is different, not that there are no carp in shallow water, I often use a camera to observe the bottom of the water, and sometimes I rely on the camera to find a fishing position, I found that there are carp in shallow water, and even large carp of more than four or five catties.
However, there are two problems, one is that there are not many carp in shallow water, and the other is that carp in shallow water are not easy to catch, and they can flee at the slightest hint of wind and grass, and even the sound of hook bait and lead falling into the water may frighten them.
So I personally think that winter crucian carp fishing should still be based on the depth of fishing, if the water depth of the fishing point allows, I recommend fishing more than three or four meters, if it is a long-throw fishing method with a wheel such as rock rod drifting, you can catch seven or eight meters.
As for more than ten meters or even twenty or thirty meters, I rarely fish, first, I don't like to play with wheels, and I don't have much experience in playing; second, there are few rivers and lakes in our side that are particularly deep.
In addition to the depth, there is also to be far, the rock rod slippery, throwing the rod these not to mention, if it is a platform fishing hand rod, at least 6.3 meters to start, if there is a long rod in the hand, you can use 8.1 meters or even 9 meters. Many anglers can't catch carp in winter because the rod is too short to reach the carp's activity area!
The third thing to do in winter carp fishing: make a nest
It is very important to fish for carp to make a nest, unlike crucian carp fishing, where you only need to sprinkle two handfuls of sake rice at any time, and sometimes you need to make a heavy nest, sometimes you need to make a small nest, and sometimes you can't even make a nest.
If the nest is not done well, it may not be able to attract fish, may not be able to keep the fish, or cause the fish to eat the nest material but not the hook.
Winter and early spring, the two seasons with low water temperature, are not suitable for heavy nests, which is the same as crucian carp fishing, we can directly skip the nest for fishing, or we can play small nests for fishing.
The difference between the two is that if you don't make a nest for fishing, you need to use commercial bait, and you should be diligent and draw more nests, but only in the early stage, and the rhythm of the fish in the nest should be slowed down in the later stage to avoid frequent startling fish.
You can use earthworm bloodworms and fish for small nests, but the amount of nests must be accurate, if you accidentally hit too much, it will be over.
Considering that it is a little easier to play a nest and keep fishing, then take this as an example, I will recommend using pure corn when the small fish nest is serious in hot weather, and at this time the activity of the fish is poor in cold weather, I prefer miscellaneous grains, or cereals, you can properly mix a little wine rice, granules, so that the nest is a little faster, and the fish species are slightly more.
The amount of nest material only needs a small handful, dozens of grains are enough, because the winter to use a long rod to fish far, so it is difficult to accurately send the nest material to the den, first of all, it is never recommended to throw it by hand, and the nest spoon is actually not very accurate.
The best thing to do is to get some commercial bait (flour or something like that), mix it with the nest material to make it a little sticky, and then wrap it around a hook or lead base and throw the rod out. If it's troublesome, just mix some mud and throw it out. It is not recommended to make up the nest in the later stage of the nest, whether there is a mouth or not, do not make up for it, at most it is to rub a few big bait.

Carp into the nest is relatively slow, even if you choose a good fishing position, they will enter the nest quickly, and will not open in a short time, so we don't need to rush to fish after the nest, wait for an hour and then fish again.
After fishing, we do not fish the center of the nest, according to years of experience, the effect of fishing carp on the edge of the nest is better, with the nest as the center, the diameter of one meter can be fished.
Fishing carp does not need frequent teasing, the wrong method will be counterproductive, unless it is to play a long rod and short line, it is better to keep the fishing line with a normal fishing hand rod, it is better to fish blunt, let the line lie on the bottom or bend significantly, so that it is more convenient for the fish to eat bait.
