It all started with the Spring Festival in 2016.
During the Spring Festival of 2016, 35-year-old Lei Haiwei was resting and watching TV at home, and accidentally saw the cultural program "Chinese Poetry Conference" founded by the National Language and Writing Working Committee, CCTV and CCTV Science and Education.
Lei Haiwei, who is also a lover of poetry and songs, looked at the various appreciation, communication and competition activities on the TV program, Lei Haiwei was excited, and he thought: It would be great if I could also participate in it myself.
So after the second season of the Chinese Poetry Conference audition began, Lei Haiwei signed up decisively, but when it came to the telephone interview, he was brushed off.
"I feel like a good answer, but there are too many people who are better than me. Lei Haiwei commented that he clearly knew that there were people outside the world, and there were heavens outside the sky.
But when the second season of the TV show ended, a new opportunity arose.
This time, Lei Hai prepared a lot of content and materials, but when the audition was about to end, he did not receive the interview notice from the program team, which made him feel very disappointed.
On October 4, 2017, it seemed that he was unwilling to accept such a result, Lei Hai checked the information on the registration website again, but inadvertently found that the registration had not ended, so he filled in the registration information for the second time with the idea of trying again.
More than ten days later, on the way back from food delivery, Lei Haiwei received a call from the program team and invited him to participate in a telephone interview.

A boy who loves poetry
Since the first grade of primary school, Lei Haiwei has developed a high interest in poetry, he is very obsessed with the rhythm of poetry, and his father often copies poems by hand and pastes them on the wall for him to recite.
The old wall of his home was his earliest impression of poetry.
In 1981, Lei Haiwei was born in an ordinary peasant family in Shaoyang, Hunan, his father was a Chinese teacher in a local primary school, and was influenced and educated by his father.
Because of his career in education, Lei's father clearly knows how difficult it is for rural children to receive education, not that they don't want to learn, nor that they can't learn, but the key lies in the allocation of educational resources and their own survival.
He clearly knows that if a child wants to have more choices in the future, he must read, he must study, and he must go out of the countryside.
In order to enhance the child's memory, Lei's father would test Lei Haiwei from time to time, reciting "Compassion Nong" on the dining table and "Gulang Yuexing" when admiring the moon.
Lei Haiwei's love for poetry is a surprise for Lei's father, the child is usually a reserved and shy character, but when it comes to poetry, he can exude bright confidence from the inside out, which makes him feel very gratified.
When he was a child, Lei Haiwei had always had a good academic performance, and he often listened to his father's ridicule, fantasizing about being admitted to a good university in the future, engaging in literary work, going out of the mountains, and seeing the world.
However, after entering middle school, Lei Haiwei, who was extremely introverted and peaceful, was ostracized by his classmates, and even gave him a nickname, calling him "Bodhisattva".
Children do not understand a sense of proportion, and their behavior is always unintentional, naïve, and vicious. The school experience made Lei Haiwei feel rejected by learning, and in addition to the language he loved, he had very serious problems in learning.
Therefore, Lei Haiwei's first bump in life was the failure of the high school entrance examination, and his extremely partial grades made him unable to go further in his studies.
After graduating from secondary school in 2001, Lei Hai worked as an electrician for half a year in a factory in Shenzhen.
Unlike when he was a student, he was only obsessed with the rhythm of poetry, after stepping into society, many things in life made him feel tired and tired, and only when he read poetry would his soul get a trace of comfort, feel warmth and happiness.
In 2002, with the idea of seeing the prosperity of the city, Lei Haiwei came to Shanghai alone, and worked as a construction site worker, car wash worker, restaurant waiter and shopping mall salesman.
The life of constant "drifting" smoothed out his edges and corners, and the unsatisfactory life aroused Lei Haiwei's spiritual pursuit even more, and he always recalled the beauty and freedom in the poems.
In fact, before 2004, poetry was just an ordinary hobby in Lei Haiwei's heart, although he often recited and studied, but it did not reach the point where it was indispensable.
Until one day in the "Oriental Book City" in Pudong, Lei Haiwei encountered the first poetry theory in his life, "Poetry Writing Must Read", during which the battle about poetry opened the door to a new world for Lei Haiwei.
"After reading it, I have a feeling of sudden realization..."
Since then, Lei Haiwei has changed from "loving, loving" poetry to obsession, rekindling his extreme desire to learn, and will immediately memorize the poems he likes when he encounters them.
Because his salary was very low at that time, there was no way to buy all the books, so after he finished memorizing them in the bookstore, he went home and wrote out the poems silently, and he could often memorize three or two poems a day, and sometimes his brain was hot, and he could remember more than a dozen.
In the year when he fell madly in love with poetry, Lei Haiwei memorized more than 800 poems, which were the most valuable treasures of his life.
In 2008, because the original company changed careers, he couldn't find any good jobs in Shanghai, which is full of talents, Lei Haiwei came to Hangzhou, where he longed, and wanted to find his poetic life here.
And in order to improve himself, he also participated in the adult college entrance examination, and finally graduated from the Department of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering of Loudi Vocational College.
In 2011, with the improvement of people's quality of life, the express delivery business is also booming, and after four years of express delivery, Lei Haiwei turned into a full-time delivery worker.
Whether it is delivering couriers or delivering takeaways, Lei Haiwei's work is very hard, but he has never given up his hobby because of this, and he has used all the trivial time of waiting for food delivery to read poetry and enrich his spiritual world.
After the rise of smart phones, many people are using their mobile phones to play games, chat, and watch videos for entertainment, but only Lei Haiwei is using his mobile phone to read poems and recite poems.
Many people don't understand the use of him reciting poems for Lei Haiwei, just like Dong Qing's evaluation of Lei Haiwei: "Any time you spend on reading, you will be rewarded at a certain moment." ”
With a reserve of 800 excellent poems, Lei Haiwei used to be a little proud, thinking that there were not too many poems to memorize, but after winning the championship, he silently memorized more than 200 poems.

In April 2018, after the program was broadcast, the parents were very happy and proud of their son's achievements, and colleagues and friends also congratulated him.
This summer, Lei Haiwei was very busy, but he was not busy delivering takeaways, but busy dealing with olive branches from different companies and news interviews from different media, and all kinds of trips were lined up for a month or two.
"I 'defeated' the Master of Arts from Peking University in the finals, which made many people pay attention to me, but 'Takeaway Brother' is my profession, 'Poetry Conference Champion' is my hobby, and my profession has nothing to do with hobbies. ”
Lei Haiwei said that after he is busy with this period of life, he will continue to live his life, and he will continue to participate in cultural programs and continue to read poems.
However, even if Lei Hai tries to explain the public opinion on the Internet, there are still many people who think that he will become secular driven by financial interests and eventually ruin his reputation.
But after six years of time, Lei Haiwei proved with practical actions that he is still the Lei Haiwei who perseveres to the end for love, he persistently reads poems and reciting poems, accumulates knowledge, participates in various poetry and literature promotion activities in his spare time, and sows a seed of love for poetry for the younger generation.

In May last year, Lei Haiwei hosted his new book launch "Life Has Poetry: From Takeaway Brother to National Champion of the Poetry Conference" at the headquarters of Guangdong Xinhua Distribution Group, telling about his hobbies and experiences, and he was shining on the stage. Now, he has rejected countless temptations of high salaries and is engaged in teaching and research at a training institution in Chengdu.
