Just days after the fire in Henan, on January 23, another fire broke out at a hotel in Changqing District, Jinan, Shandong Province, killing four travelers staying at the hotel. According to insiders, the four people killed were all students who were conducting sports training. The occurrence of this accident made the four students who unfortunately died no longer have the youth to sway wantonly, no longer have a tomorrow where they can sweat like rain, and they will never see you running hard again.
Unexpectedly, the day after the Jinan fire, a bigger fire and greater casualties occurred in Xinyu City, Jiangxi Province. On January 24, a fire broke out in Xinyu City, Jiangxi Province, killing 39 people. Many of the victims were vocational students who were undergoing "post-secondary education" training in training institutions. How many families have lost their children who have worked hard and looked forward to a better tomorrow? How many parents have lost their love? How can a group of hard-working children wither prematurely like flowers?
The relentless fires in the three provinces of Henan, Shandong and Jiangxi have devoured the lives of 56 innocent people, many of whom have a bright future, and have also brought indescribable sadness to their families.
Fire accidents occur frequently, causing major safety hazards to the people and seriously threatening the safety of people's lives and property. So, are these fires that caused casualties really unavoidable?
Fire Questioning:
On January 19, the fire in the dormitory of Dushu Town, Nanyang, Henan Province, which killed 13 boarding children, was not a natural disaster, but a man-made disaster that could have been avoided. Even if the fire started quietly from inside the dormitory, even if the young children in the dormitory were asleep and they were ignorant of the spreading fire, what about the teachers on duty at the school?
For the sake of the safety of the school, it should not be common sense that the school building should be equipped with a watchman and a male teacher on duty every day? Could it be that the Yingcai School where the fire broke out in Nanyang did not arrange for relevant personnel to be on duty? Or did the relevant staff neglect their duties and did not fulfill their due responsibilities that day? In their eyes, the young children who live in school and leave the care of their parents do not need adult care?
Some people may think that if the students' dormitories are locked with an open lock, their safety is foolproof. But they don't know that what they lock is precisely the door for children who are in danger to find a glimmer of life in the event of an accident!
Did the operator of the school, as the first person responsible for the accident, only care about the vested financial interests in front of him, and neglect the most important safety work?
On January 23, the fire at a hotel in Jinan, Shandong Province, was also a completely avoidable disaster. An air conditioner power cord in the lobby on the first floor of the hotel caught fire, perhaps because the circuit was aging, or perhaps because of overload of electricity, did the hotel staff not regularly check and maintain the line? If the regular inspection and maintenance were carried out, this accidental fire might have been stillborn.
When the hotel staff found that the air conditioning wiring was on fire, if they could have extinguished the fire with a fire extinguisher in the first place, the fire would not have worsened. Could it be that the hotel did not have a fire extinguisher, or did the hotel not train its staff in the necessary fire extinguishing knowledge?
If the hotel's automatic fire alarm system had been put in place, would the damage from the fire have been minimized? If the hotel's evacuation channel had not been blocked, would the four innocent young people not have died?
As the operator of the hotel, is he also blinded by money? Is there no sense of security and law?
On January 24, the huge fire that shocked the whole country in Xinyu City, Jiangxi Province, made people question more places. A fire broke out on the basement floor of a six-storey commercial and residential building, and the fire quickly spread to the second floor, causing heavy casualties to students attending classes at the training institution on the second floor and passengers staying in the hotel.
When the second floor, which is not high, is on fire, can it be that in the face of a life-and-death decision, adults can't choose to jump out of the window to escape? What is the reason why they give up jumping out of the window to escape? Is it because neither the training institution nor the over-fire hotel have a window to give people life?
If a training institution wants to accommodate dozens of students attending classes at the same time, is there no fire escape? Isn't there an emergency evacuation channel in a hotel that is in business? "Fire prevention every day, anti-theft every night" is a very simple common sense that even children know, but don't the staff of the renovation construction team not know it?
The more the year comes, the more important it is to grasp safety work, is it true that the relevant government departments are just decorations? Do the relevant departments usually not go down to inspect the work? Or do they usually just engage in formalism and never put the safety work of the masses in the first place?
In the face of the facts of a major fire, in front of dozens of young people who died unjustly, in front of dozens of families who are no longer intact, and in front of their grief-stricken family members, any explanation is sophistry, any statement is pale, any apology is hypocritical, and any accountability is just a remedy.

When a fire breaks out and irreversible damage is caused, how can we comfort the souls of the deceased? How can we comfort the grieving families? How can we warn others? How can we deter those operators and responsible persons who neglect firefighting work?
After the fire broke out at the Yingcai School in Nanyang, Henan, seven responsible persons were controlled; after the fire in Xinyu, Jiangxi Province, which caused heavy casualties, 12 relevant responsible persons were controlled; and after the fire at the Jinan Hotel in Shandong, the relevant personnel will also be controlled. Rest assured, what awaits them must be the sanction of the law.
Apologizing is the attitude that the government should have after the accident, and a qualified government must dare to admit its mistakes, dare to admit negligence in its work, dare to face public opinion, and dare to apologize. After the fire, Xu Hong, deputy secretary of the Xinyu Municipal Party Committee and mayor of Jiangxi Province, bowed and apologized to the 39 souls who died in the fire at a press conference.
Although an apology cannot solve the problem, it represents the attitude of the local government and the courage of the local government to face up to the problem. A government that dares to apologize is much better than a government that tries to cover up the truth, lie about the casualties, and deceive the masses after an accident.

There are many smokers on the mainland, but are there still people who do not know how not to litter cigarette butts and to extinguish cigarette butts after smoking? This can only show that citizens' personal qualities determine their personal habits, and citizens' personal habits have a bearing on safety work. How many fires have been caused by a small cigarette butt? It seems that we still have a long way to go.
Leaders of units must do a good job of the safety of their own units, must draw lessons from fire accidents in other places, and must not have a fluke mentality. Why did a fire break out in the Jiahai Industrial Park in Hefei, Anhui Province, on 25 January, the day after the 24 th fire broke out in Xinyu, Jiangxi? The fire burned over an area of about 470 square meters! Why did a color printing factory in Fujian catch fire again late on the night of 25 July? This fire not only burned down the houses of the color printing factory to the point that only empty shelves remained, but also affected seven or eight shops.
The occurrence of each fire will bring different degrees of economic losses to huge casualties. Therefore, any organization, any unit, and any individual must raise their awareness of fire prevention, strictly abide by the fire protection law, and prevent the occurrence of fire accidents.
