This summer, we first heard rumors about a new large D2C set in the LEGO NINJAGOGO series. The set is expected to contain more than 3,000 bricks and will feature a design called "Temple City of Martial Arts". While it won't be a new LEGO Ninjago City building, it's likely to continue the iconic style of the Flying Ninja Temple.

In addition, the second season of LEGO NINJAGO: Dragon Rise will also air this year. In addition to the many regular retail sets we mentioned in our 2024 annual roundup, there will also be an oversized set that could also be quite appealing to non-ninja fans.

The "Tournament Temple City", which is expected to be the largest LEGO NINJAGO® set in 2024, consists of 3,489 LEGO bricks. Brickmerge has unveiled the set, which is expected to be released on June 1, 2024. It is reported that the retail price in the United States is $249.99, but the price of euros has not been disclosed. After the launch of NINJAGO® Garden City in 2021 and the release of the NINJAGONA City Market last year as the largest set in the series, we may not see the new NINJAGO® City expansion in 2024. The Temple City is expected to be a large-scale project that will likely inherit the style of another classic LEGO NINJAGO series, the LEGO 70751 Powerpuff Ninja Temple.

Although the Temple City may be suitable for adults over 18 years old in terms of the number of parts, the recommended age is 14 years old, which matches what we know from other large sets in the NINJAGO® series. However, just like the "NINJAGO City" series, this set may appeal to adult fans who are interested in the colorful Asian architecture of the ninja world.

- Set number: 71814

- Name: Tournament Temple City

- Number of parts: 3489

- Minifigures: To be confirmed

- Recommended age: 14 years old and above

- Price (suggested retail price): $249.99

- Release date: June 1, 2024

We don't know exactly what the temple city of the tournament in the "NINJAGO® universe" looks like. Perhaps this set was inspired by the LEGO 71735 Elemental Ring Race, which was launched in 2022 for the fourth season of the NINJAGO® series. It would be very fitting if the tournament temple city also included an arena, where ninjas could fight or face other challenges.

In 2015, four years after the launch of LEGO NINJAGO, the 70751 Flying Ninja Temple was unveiled. Before the release of The LEGO NINJAGO® Movie in 2017, it was the largest set in the themed world to date. With a total of 1966 parts, the set builds a tall red temple topped by a combination of two traditional Japanese buildings.

Like the later LEGO NINJAGO® City set, this set doesn't sacrifice playability, for example, the model includes a theater with light tiles. The use of a black roller shutter as a roof also laid the groundwork for the creative use of the parts in the NINJAGO® set.
