Taiping Road, located in the fountain of Yunyan District, Guiyang City, is connected to Zhonghua Road in the east, Renmin Avenue in the west, and Longjing Road and Datong Street in the middle. In just a few hundred meters away, it has witnessed the glory and changes of "Old Guiyang". In 2023, Yunyan District will launch the Taiping Road Renovation and Upgrading Urban Renewal Project, which includes the recovering of the Guancheng River, infrastructure construction, renovation of old residential areas, renovation of back streets and alleys, construction of commercial blocks, and excavation and protection of history and culture. The riverbanks of the city, the old streets and alleys, the ancient trees and old bridges, and the tide streets of the business district are about to be transformed, and they will be rejuvenated again.

Taiping Bridge
Taiping Bridge stands at the twists and turns of the Guancheng River, connects both sides of Taiping Road and Park North Road, and faces the North Gate Bridge across the river.
Later, due to the construction of air-raid shelters, the Yudai Bridge on the Guancheng River and the Taiping Bridge at the intersection of Taiping Road and Gongyuan North Road were demolished.

The "Four King Kongs" in Guiyang's architectural industry
Around the fountain, from the 50s of the 20th century, four buildings were built respectively: Guiyang Hotel, Provincial Post and Telecommunications Bureau (20th Century Post and Telecommunications were combined into one), fountain store, and ethnic store. Although these buildings are not high, but very imposing, each building is a monopoly, by Guiyang people called Guiyang architectural circles "four King Kong".
The night market in Guiyang was first formed spontaneously at the entrance of the Guiyang Hotel and the Provincial Post and Telecommunications Bureau in the fountain, which was in the early 90s of the 20th century. Later, Guiyang's night market was formed on a large scale on Yan'an East Road, Yan'an Middle Road, Zhonghua Road and Zhonghua North Road.

Bronze statue platform
The bronze statue platform is one of the two major memorial buildings in Guiyang during the Republic of China (the other is the memorial tower), which was once a well-known place name in old Guiyang, and the central position is the bronze statue of Zhou Xicheng, chairman of Guizhou Province during the Republic of China. With the demolition of the "bronze statue" in 1952, the place name of the bronze statue has become history and faded out of people's vision.
Later, a fountain-like pool surrounded by greenery and flowers was replaced, and the name of the statue was changed to a fountain.

Guiyang Gongyuan
The Grand Cross Square in present-day Guiyang and a large area in the north (all the way to the vicinity of Taiping Road) are the location of the Gongyuan in old Guiyang, that is, the place where the township examination was held in Guizhou during the imperial examination era. According to Mr. Lin Kailiang's statistics, from the first township examination in Guizhou to the end of the Qing Dynasty, nearly 6,000 people and 700 jinshi were selected in the imperial examination in Guizhou.
On February 4, 1939, Japanese planes bombed Guiyang, and the area around the Grand Cross, including the Gongyuan Dam, became a sea of fire, and the hundreds of years of history of Guiyang Gongyuan completely disappeared.

Jiangxi Hall (Wanshou Palace)
From the Ming Hongwu period when a large number of Jiangxi soldiers were stationed in Guizhou, to the early Qing Dynasty to change the guard and set up a county, a large number of Jiangxi wealthy businessmen entered Guizhou, and the Jiangxi Hall (Wanshou Palace) built around Taiping Road became the most spectacular building complex in Guiyang City.
The school built in the Jiangxi Hall became Yunyan No. 2 Middle School after the liberation, which is not only the inheritance of Guiyang's urban culture, but also cultivates generations of Guiyang people.

Datong Street
Historically, the copper products here are very famous, and there are many shops that make copper pots, copper bowls, and copper locks, so this street is also called Datong Street. Later, the coppersmith changed his profession and moved out, and the copper industry in Datong Street declined, and its name gradually lost its original meaning, and it was gradually called Datong Street. Later, it developed into a food street in Guiyang, which is also the appearance in the memory of the young generation in Guiyang.
