For buyers of South Korean weapons and equipment today, the quality of South Korea's weapons and equipment is "excellent" and has a "global reputation". However, more than 20 years ago, South Korea once screwed up a "sale" of warships, so that he still can't hold his head up in front of this country.

In the late 90s, Bangladesh, which had received assistance from Middle Eastern oil tycoons, wanted to purchase a frigate with a contract value of 130 million US dollars. After some competition, this "big pie" finally fell to the head of the Daewoo shipyard in South Korea. In less than two years, the frigate "Banbandhu Lake", built by the South Korean Daewoo shipyard for the Bangladesh Navy, was delivered.

With a displacement of 2,300 tons, the "Banbande Lake" integrates the weapons systems of various countries. The 76-millimeter main gun, two 40-millimeter secondary guns, and two 324-millimeter torpedo tubes are all Italian; the radar, operational command, and communication systems are from the Dutch "Thales"; the data link is from the United States; the MTU diesel engine and hull sonar are from Germany; the short-range air defense missile is China's "Haihongqi" 7, and the anti-ship missile is also Italy's "Ottomat" with a maximum range of 160 kilometers and a warhead weight of 210 kilograms; and the antisubmarine helicopter is a "Bobcat" helicopter jointly developed by Britain and France.

When the Bangladesh Navy received the ship, it was very happy that this top-level "Stitching Monster" integrated weapons systems from the United States, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Britain, France, China, South Korea. Soon this frigate was exposed to serious quality problems and could only be temporarily decommissioned.

Later, South Korea's Daewoo Shipyard sent technicians to Bangladesh ship repair yards to instruct Bangladeshi workers to repair the frigate "Banbandadehu", and it was only in 2004 that it was put back into active service.

After that, the Bangladesh Navy bought ships again, saying that it didn't believe South Korea anymore, and in recent years, the Bangladesh Navy has purchased 4 053 series frigates, 4 056 improved frigates, and 035 conventional submarines from China, but it will never buy South Korean ships again.
