Fast Technology reported on January 14 that according to media reports, the new generation of BMW 5 Series will be officially launched at the end of this month.

However, the 540i model (G60) will not be available in the Chinese market and will only continue to be available in the US market, while the old 540i model will also be discontinued in February 2023.

As an imported model, the old BMW 5 Series 540i is an imported model produced at the BMW Group's Dingolfing plant in Germany, with an official guide price of 609,900 yuan in China.

The car is equipped with a 3.0-liter inline-six turbocharged engine with a maximum power of 340 hp and a peak torque of 450 Nm, and the official 0-100 km/h acceleration time is only 5.1 seconds.

As a recap, in 2017, the old BMW 5 Series went on sale in China, offering an imported standard axle version of the 540i and a domestic long-axle version of the 540Li.

In 2019, the domestic long-axis version of the 540Li was discontinued. In September 2020, the BMW 5 Series was launched as a mid-cycle facelift, and the standard axle 540i model will continue to be sold in the domestic market.

Therefore, the BMW 5 Series currently on sale will be the last 5 Series model equipped with a 3.0T 6-cylinder engine in China.
