Cao Xuan: It's the afternoon of January 11 local time, and this is the square in front of the Guayaquil City Hall, Ecuador's largest city. Before the state of emergency was imposed throughout Ecuador, the square was crowded with citizens every afternoon for recreation. But now, we can see that the traffic in the square is only 10% of what it used to be, and 90% of the shops in the entire city center are now closed. The University of Guayaquil, which is right next to me, is also closed because of the attack two days ago.

Currently, most residents of the municipality of Guayaquil are told to stay at home. According to the reporter's on-the-spot information, 90% of the enterprises in the south of Guayaquil have suspended business due to safety concerns, and most shops in the city center have not opened. The business district is sparsely populated, there are not many cars on the main roads, shops are curtained with bars, and many banks are closed.
