Lao Tzu is a true wise man, who not only teaches people to behave in weakness and foolishness, but also teaches people to do nothing, to be selfless, to be subordinate, to retreat, to filter, and to be natural...... His ideas are difficult for people to accept, because ordinary people can only see the appearance of things, but Lao Tzu can see the inside, and ordinary people can only see the front of things, but Lao Tzu can see the negative side.
Lao Tzu was the teacher of Confucius and flourished for a while. But their concept is relative, Confucius insisted on "promising", so he put forward the benevolent system, put forward benevolence, righteousness, loyalty, filial piety, honesty and shame, and put forward the monarch as the minister, the father as the son, and the husband as the wife.
Lao Tzu was isolated from the world, so his experience of all things in the world was more profound, and the young Confucius once came to Luoyang, the eastern capital, to ask Lao Tzu for advice.
Lao Tzu suddenly opened his mouth for Confucius to see, and then asked, "Can you see my teeth?"
Confucius felt very strange why the gentleman asked this question, so he replied truthfully, "You have all lost all your teeth." ”
Lao Tzu then asked, "What about my tongue? Do you see it's still in my mouth?"
Confucius immediately replied, "It's still intact in your mouth." ”
Lao Tzu said a truth unhurriedly: "You understand, right? Because the teeth are too hard, they always bite back and forth with all kinds of food, and they bite and touch themselves, so they fall out after a long time." But the tongue is different, the tongue is soft, although it is often squeezed and squeezed in the collision between the teeth and the food, but it is always just a silent taste, and does not participate in the collision and fight between the teeth and the food, and finally the food is broken, the teeth are lost, and the tongue can accompany the human life to the end. ”
Confucius suddenly realized that Lao Tzu was using his own teeth and tongue as a metaphor to explain the truth of weak survival in simple terms. The "weak" here does not mean cowardice, weakness, or weakness, but refers to not being tough or strong. The role of the Tao is omnipresent, but it is not obvious, nor is it overt, but hidden, and always keeps a low profile and humility.
