The Second Hospital of the University of Medicine hosted the Cross-Strait Surgical Academic Seminar and Summit Forum
This year coincides with the 100th anniversary of the birth of Academician Qiu Fazu, a giant of foreign sciences, in order to show the personality charm and spiritual outlook of Academician Qiu Fazu of "Great Doctor, Master, Great Virtue" and promote academic and people-to-people exchanges between the surgical circles on both sides of the Straits, from October 17 to 19, it was co-sponsored by the Cross-Strait Surgical Medical Association, tongji Hospital Affiliated to Tongji Medical College of Huazhong University of Science and Technology, and the Organizing Committee of the "Frontier and Debate Summit Forum on Clinical General Surgery in China". The "100th Anniversary Commemoration Ceremony of the Birth of Academician Qiu Fazu" and the "7th Cross-Strait General Surgery Academic Symposium and 2014 China Clinical General Surgery Frontier and Controversy Summit Forum" hosted by the Second Affiliated Hospital of Dalian Medical University (hereinafter referred to as the Second Affiliated Hospital of Dalian Medical University) were grandly held in the Second Hospital of Dalian Medical University.
As a top-level medical event in China, the conference invited more than 500 academicians and famous experts from the cross-strait and three regions, including Academician Wu Mengchao of Shanghai Oriental Hepatobiliary Surgery Hospital, Academician Zheng Shusen of the First Affiliated Hospital of Zhejiang University School of Medicine, Academician Chen Zhaolong of Chang Gung Memorial Hospital of Kaohsiung, Taiwan, Academician Liu Yunyi, Chair Professor of Surgery and Dean of Harmony College of the School of Medicine of the University of Chinese of Hong Kong, Professor Li Yousheng of Nanjing General Hospital of Nanjing Military Region, Professor Peng Fanggu, former President of Taiwan Veterans General Hospital, and Professor Guan Xinyuan of the Department of Clinical Oncology of the University of Hong Kong.
At 7:00 p.m. on the 17th, as the executive chairman of the conference, Zhao Zuowei, professor of general surgery and president of the Second Hospital of The University of Medicine, presided over the opening ceremony and delivered a speech. Zhao Zuowei said that experts and scholars from the three places across the Taiwan Straits will bring wonderful academic lectures at this grand meeting, introduce hot spots and new progress in the field of general surgery at home and abroad, display new technologies for surgical treatment, and build a high-end platform for academic exchanges and project cooperation in the field of general surgery on both sides of the strait. At the same time, we take the commemoration of the 100th anniversary of the birth of Academician Qiu Fazu as an opportunity, uphold the teachings of Qiu Lao, follow the purpose of "academic exchanges to promote development, explore cutting-edge innovation, elite gathering to increase friendship, and promote medicine for the people", and make greater contributions to the development of surgery on both sides of the Straits. At the same time, he introduced the development of the hospital in the past two years, the second hospital of the university has made great progress in various undertakings, the social image has undergone tremendous changes, has become the largest hospital in southern Liaoning, and ranks first in Dalian in the comprehensive ranking of the top three hospitals in Liaoning Province. In the field of general surgery, specialties and technologies such as liver transplantation and integrated treatment of liver cancer, comprehensive treatment of tumors, and minimally invasive surgery have formed a certain influence in the region, and are at the forefront of the province and even in China. Hosting high-level academic seminars and summit forums is not only an affirmation of the development achievements of the hospital over the years, but also a platform and motivation for our hospital to further climb the high-tech field of discipline, which is of great and far-reaching significance.
Subsequently, the "commemoration of the 100th anniversary of the birth of Academician Qiu Fazu" was held, and the participants watched the commemorative video of Academician Qiu Fazu, and Professor Zou Shengquan and Professor Peng Fanggu, chairman of the current congress and executive vice president and chairman of the Cross-Strait Surgical Medical Association, stressed in their speeches that surgical personnel should follow the teachings of "being content with people, knowing insufficient things in doing things, and not being satisfied with learning", and inherit and carry forward Qiu Lao's superb medical skills, noble medical ethics, and excellent demeanor.
Wen Deliang, president of Dalian Medical University, said in his speech that this conference is a grand gathering of more than 500 surgical colleagues from all over the country and four places across the strait, and it is also a good deed to benefit more than 5 million people in Bincheng. President Wen introduced the glorious traditions and educational philosophy of Dalian Medical University from the aspects of the glorious history of the early days of the university, the southward migration to Zunyi, the relocation and reconstruction, and the rapid development. President Wen stressed that in recent years, the Second Affiliated Hospital has developed rapidly, ranking third in the province and first in Dalian in the comprehensive ranking of hospitals in Liaoning Province in 2014. Its general surgery department has achieved rapid development, and the hospital's national key disciplines and national clinical key specialty construction projects have made comprehensive breakthroughs, and its influence in the region and industry has been continuously improved. Holding this academic seminar and summit forum on general surgery is a grand meeting held on the basis of the rapid development of the discipline level of Dalian Medical University and the Second Affiliated Hospital, hoping to take this opportunity to strengthen learning and exchanges with the general surgery channels on both sides of the strait and grow and progress together.
At the end of the opening ceremony, the launch ceremony of the book "Lecture Notes on Hepatobiliary Surgery" edited by Academician Huang Zhiqiang, the "Collection of Academician Huang Zhiqiang" and the book "Practical General Surgery" edited by Professor Yang Chunming of the Second Hospital of the University of Medicine were held. Professor Zou Shengquan of Tongji Hospital affiliated to Tongji Medical College of Huazhong University of Science and Technology and Jia Xiaowei, director of the Surgical Editorial Department of the People's Medical Publishing House, introduced the contents of the three new books. Academician Liu Yunyi, Academician Chen Zhaolong, Academician Zheng Shusen, President Peng Fanggu came to the stage to present the book, and President Lei Yongyao, President of Taipei Veterans General Hospital, Li Wensheng, Chairman of the Macau Surgical Society, Director Guan Xinyuan, and President Zhao Zuowei accepted the book donation.
On the 18th, the academician forum was held, and the academicians of the three places on both sides of the strait discussed the frontier and latest progress of the development of general surgery with the representatives, which promoted the dissemination of new concepts of general surgery and the development of disciplines. On the 19th, experts from the Second Hospital of the University of Medicine and well-known experts across the country demonstrated the 3D laparoscopic radical treatment of colon cancer, endoscopic thyroid cancer resection, thyroid cancer radical resection, etc. through high-tech video broadcasting, which was well received by the participating experts.
During the meeting, experts from Beijing and Guangzhou held a lecture hall on people's health, explaining to the public "Prevention and Treatment of Acute Pancreatitis" and "Diagnosis and Treatment of Polyposis-like Lesions of the Gallbladder". Academician Zheng Shusen, an internationally renowned expert in hepatobiliary and pancreatic surgery, organ transplantation and multi-organ joint transplantation, conducts free consultations for difficult cases of hepatobiliary and pancreatic diseases.
It is understood that the conference held a total of 75 academic lectures, surgical demonstrations, seminars, etc.
