Preface
As we all know, most of the system version updates are to fix bugs, add new functions and optimize the experience, etc., and most of the objects are terminal devices such as mobile phones, tablets or laptops in the hands of users. On December 7th, Apple (Apple lnc.) pushed the firmware update of the charger, which is similar to the previous MagSafe charger and power bank, or the charging experience has been improved or optimized for compatibility.
Power adapter
The detailed output parameters of Apple's 30W power adapter are silk-screened on the bottom panel, and it is a charger that only supports the PD fast charging protocol, which can theoretically provide full charging power for the iPhone (PD 27W).
Firmware version upgrade
For information on Apple's power adaptation, you only need to connect the charger to your Mac device via an A/C to C cable or a MagSafe3 cable.
Then, click on your Mac device to enter the [Hardware] → [Power] options, and you can view the latest version number.
When the power adapter pushes the latest firmware, it will be automatically updated when the Mac device is connected, and you can see that the updated version number is: 1030053.
Charge test
First of all, the charging protocol of the adapter was tested, and the actual test still supports PD 2.0, DCP and other charging protocols.
PDO报文方面,依旧是具备5V3A、9V3A、15V2A和20V1.5A四组固定电压档位。
After connecting the 30W power adapter and the iPhone 15 Plus mobile phone with the original charging cable, the input power of the mobile phone is 8.23V 2.94A 24.19W according to the POWER-Z KM003C tester, and there is no significant difference in charging performance before and after the update.
After connecting the 30W power adapter to the MacBook Air 15 laptop with the original MagSafe3 charging cable, the output power of the adapter side was 20.01V 1.5A 30.1W as read by the POWER-Z KM003C tester, and there was no significant difference in charging performance before and after the update.
Summary of the charging head network
Previously, the charging head network has conducted detailed charging tests on Apple's power adapter many times, and interested partners can look through the past.
At the same time, this power adapter is a fast and efficient way to charge end devices at home, in the office, or on the go. Although Apple lnc. recommends using this power adapter with the MacBook Air, the 30W output power is still too small, so I still think it is more ideal for iPhone and iPad devices to make the most of it.
