On December 21, 2023, the Science Village Community of Yuelu District, Changsha City and the Youth Zhi Department of the Youth League General Branch of the School of Nursing of Changsha Medical College jointly launched the volunteer service activity of "Warm Winter Action, Warm People's Hearts" to send care and greetings to the elderly in the community.
Before the start of the activity, the community staff explained the specific content and precautions of today's activity to the volunteers. Subsequently, the community staff held a meeting to discuss how to send warmth to the elderly in a better way, and let the elderly feel the warmth of the society with real love, and the volunteers also accompanied the elderly to watch the movie in the hall and discuss the plot of the movie. After watching the movie, the volunteers, led by the community staff, visited the elderly with warm winter gifts. During the visit, the volunteers gave slippers, scarves, socks and other warm winter items to the elderly, and talked with the elderly, chatting with them, and at the same time sending good wishes to the elderly, sincerely wishing them good health and happiness. When the volunteers were about to leave, the old people clasped the hands of the volunteers and said, "Thank you to the community, thank you to the volunteers, I am really happy to come today, and you are welcome to come often." With the joint efforts of community staff and volunteers, the event was successfully concluded and won the certificate of commendation awarded to all volunteers by the Hunan Federation of Volunteer Service Organizations.

This activity sent warmth and joy to the elderly in the Science Village community, and made the elderly feel cared for from the society, and also reflected that contemporary college students actively practice the core values of socialism, internalize them in their hearts and externalize them in their actions, hoping that this activity can make more people pay attention to the group of lonely widows, living alone and the elderly, and actively promote the good social atmosphere of respecting the elderly. In the future, the volunteers will continue to carry forward the spirit of respecting the elderly, further lead the new trend of respecting, loving and helping the elderly, and actively participate in volunteer activities to care for the elderly, so as to achieve "volunteering in the heart and dedication in action", so that the tradition of respecting, respecting, loving and helping the elderly will shine in a new era.
