In order to improve the safety, aesthetics and durability of the guardrail, the new Hongkou Municipal Company, a subsidiary of Hongkou Urban Development Company, under the guidance of the District Municipal Administration and Water Management Center, updated and upgraded the road isolation guardrail in the whole district.

According to reports, the weight of the new guardrail base has increased and the chassis is more stable, which can effectively improve the safety of the guardrail and reduce the risk of the guardrail lodging during the flood prevention period. The durability and service life of the cast iron process is also much higher than that of the plastic steel base, reducing maintenance costs.
High-quality reflective materials have also been added to the upgraded base, which significantly improves visibility at night or in adverse weather conditions, providing clearer warnings to oncoming vehicles and further improving road safety.
Up to now, Hongkou has replaced about 8,880 guardrail bases.
