In order to achieve this goal, Yang Jian first set out to solve internal problems. He knew that in order to achieve victory, he had to have the support of the people. As a result, he began to implement a series of reforms, including the reform of the land system, the adjustment of the tax system, and the creation of the imperial examination system. These measures have effectively increased social productivity and improved people's livelihood, thus winning the trust and support of the people.

Then, Yang Jian began a foreign war. Under his leadership, the Sui army defeated several separatist regimes such as the Southern Liang and the Chen state, and finally completed the unification of the whole country in 617. This feat made the Sui dynasty the first great unified dynasty in Chinese history.

After ending the division between the Northern and Southern Dynasties, Yang implemented a series of effective policies to consolidate his dominance. He strengthened the centralization of power and established a system of three provinces and six ministries, which made the state administrative organs more perfect. In addition, he vigorously promoted agricultural production and handicraft production, which contributed to the development of the economy.

Emperor Wen of Sui, Yang Jian, with his outstanding leadership skills and thoughtful strategic vision, successfully ended the division between the Northern and Southern Dynasties and established a powerful Sui Dynasty. His deeds have not only left a deep mark on Chinese history, but also had a wide impact on the world.
