As one of the important platforms of the Shenzhen Institute of Agricultural Genomics of the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences, the experimental base where the chrysanthemum exhibition is located has 1,290 acres of experimental fields, which are mainly used to carry out scientific experiments, demonstration and promotion of achievements and science popularization.
"On the premise of ensuring the needs of scientific research, the experimental base has cultivated more than 70 new varieties of ornamental chrysanthemum and functional chrysanthemum with high temperature resistance, waterlogging resistance, strong disease resistance, excellent plant shape and flower color, and good application prospects. The relevant person in charge of the Agricultural Genomics Research Institute said that at present, the experimental base has planted 30 acres of terraced chrysanthemum resource plantations, and has accumulated about 2,000 copies of various chrysanthemum resources suitable for planting in Shenzhen.
Using modern molecular biological breeding technology, since 2016, 7 consecutive chrysanthemum exhibitions have been held in the experimental base, and in 2021, it will be upgraded to the Shenzhen Chrysanthemum Exhibition-Dapeng branch venue, contributing the wisdom of "Shenzhen Thousand Chrysanthemums" to Shenzhen and becoming a must-see scenery business card in Shenzhen.
