Liu Shimo was angry when he heard this, why should he be sentenced to death after his long march all the way to Yan'an! But Wang Ming did not listen to his arguments at all, and directly let the guards control him.
That night, the more Liu Shimo thought about it in the house, the more angry he became, only to feel that he was full of grievances and had nowhere to tell, so he took out a gun and pointed it at his head in the dead of night.
The next day, General Xu Shiyou went to Chairman Mao to intercede for him, explaining that he was actually a very talented general of our army and should not be wronged like this.
Chairman Mao commuted Liu Shimo's sentence to one and a half years in prison and let him go home to recuperate.
What happened to General Liu Shimo?

In 1910, on September 11, a boy was born in a peasant family in Baomahe Village, Jinzhai County, Anhui Province.
Before he was born, there were already twelve people in the family eating around the table. Liu Shimo's birth did not have much of a financial impact on the family, because they did not have any ability to take risks in the first place.
When the problem of eating is completely unsolvable, eating food with a few mouths is no longer worth considering. Although they are farmers, the Liu family actually does not have their own land.
The family made a living by working as tenant farmers for the landlord and cultivating the nine bucket fields. Nine buckets of land means that these fields can produce nine buckets of grain, all of which is not enough to feed the family, let alone hand over part of it to the landlord first.
So the family had to do something else to support the family. Liu Shimo went to herd cattle for the landlord when he was nine years old, after all, only around the landlord could he earn food for two melons and dates.
Five years later, Liu Shimo, who was getting older, went to learn tailoring, and there was a craft that was a good thing to be able to look forward to.
To learn tailoring, you have to go to the city, and when you enter the city, it is easy to see the world. After two years in the city, Liu Shimo was shocked by the revolutionary trend, and he did not expect that people could have so many ways to live. So he actively moved closer to the organization and joined the Komsomol.
After joining the Youth League organization, every self-motivated young person will of course dream of getting closer to the party organization, and Liu Shimo is no exception. He actively performed in the organization, participated in various struggle activities, learned the advanced spirit of Xi, and finally succeeded in joining the party in January 1929.
Soon after, the Shangnan Uprising broke out, and the young Liu Shimo became a Red Army soldier. Due to his outstanding performance in battle, he became a platoon commander just two months later.
In October of the same year, the unit was restructured, the Red Eleventh Army became the Red First Army, and Liu Shimo was naturally promoted to become a company commander of the Fourth Regiment.
In the battle of Dushan, Liu Shimo won the appreciation of the organization with his heroic fighting. He charged forward with great courage and fearlessly broke the enemy's line.
After the battle, the organization wanted to commend Liu Shimo's outstanding achievements, but at that time, our army had not yet established a perfect military rank system, so Liu Shimo was given forty oceans. In those days, so much money was enough to build a cave and marry a wife.
At the same time, our army also promoted Liu Shimo to an officer and made him a battalion commander. In less than five years, Liu Shimo has changed from a small tailor to an iron-blooded battalion commander, which is the experience of the revolution.
In 1932, Liu Shimo served as the commander of the 33rd Regiment and followed the Red Fourth Front Army to start the westward expedition. Or that the fate of people is really unpredictable, and the Red Fourth Front Army gave him the opportunity to display his talents, but it also covered his future path with a layer of mud.
In April 1933, Liu Shimo was ordered to merge the 32nd Regiment under the command of the Red Tenth Division and began the next stage of the battle.
Bloody Battle of Wulongtai
In October of that year, the command of the Red Fourth Front Army decided after discussion that it was time to launch the Xuanda Campaign and launch an attack on the warlord Liu Cunhou in Sichuan.
At that time, Liu Cunhou led the Kuomintang 23rd Army to be stationed in Daxian County, holding the road for the Red Fourth Front Army to go north. In order not to be overtaken by the enemy forces behind them, the Red Fourth Front had to crush the enemy who was blocking it head-on.
After investigation and investigation, our army made combat arrangements. Liu Shimo's Red Tenth Division and the 36th Regiment were responsible for attacking Liu Cunhou's Second Division, which was a hard nut to crack.
In order to break through the enemy's defense line as soon as possible and achieve the effect of helping friendly troops, this attacking force was again divided into two lines, and the political commissar led two regiments of troops to attack Zhenlongguan, where the enemy was stationed.
Liu Shimo led the army to bypass from Siluoba and attacked the enemy's rear from the southeast, taking the enemy by surprise.
Soon, the troops advanced to Yujiaping, where the enemy left a unit and engaged in a fierce battle with our troops. In order not to slow down the advance of the sneak attack, the 30th Regiment was left to confront the enemy, and Liu Shimo continued to lead the 36th Regiment to advance to block the enemy's retreat.
In the process of advancing, our army continued to be broken into pieces, and Liu Shimo advanced alone with a battalion and his own guard platoon.
That night, our army arrived at Wulongtai, and just as he was resting, Liu Shimo suddenly realized that there was something strange about the situation. Since our army has cut off the enemy's retreat, why has we not seen the enemy's rout and our army's ambush fighting so far?
Such an abnormal reality made Liu Shimo suddenly realize that their reconnaissance of the local terrain had been missed, and there must be a road to Yujiaping nearby.
And it was through this road that the enemy had already fled to Daxian, bypassing the ambush circle of our troops. This is a big gap, once the enemy army escapes back to Daxian, it will be even more difficult for our army to attack the city.
So Liu Shimo immediately made a decision and sent scouts to search for possible enemies nearby. Finally, a few hours later, the reconnaissance unit came back with the news that the enemy had occupied a hill and was building a position.
Liu Shimo's heart was full of alarm bells, if the enemy was allowed to occupy this high ground, it would in turn be able to clamp down on the actions of our army. After a brief estimate of how much more enemy troops outnumbered the troops around him, Liu Shimo made a heroic decision.
While ordering people to call back the second battalion that had been lying in ambush, he led his first battalion to attack the enemy's unfortified position.
The enemy was also fighting the trapped beast at this time, and after seeing Liu Shimo leading people to attack, he burst out with extremely strong combat effectiveness and fought back desperately. After the bullets were finished, he even picked up a broadsword and began to fight with our army in a white-knuckle battle.
But in the end, the Kuomintang army was disheartened, and it was still no match for our people's army, and Liu Shimo led his soldiers to repel wave after wave of enemy attacks.
God is jealous of talent
It was only after dawn that Liu Shimo saw the scale of the enemy army clearly, and it turned out that a large number of Kuomintang troops had already gathered under the mountain, which was far from being able to withstand the men and horses of their two battalions.
Last night, it was because of the timidity and confusion of the enemy that they held on for a long time. Now the enemy also saw the number of defenders on the hill and immediately launched a fierce attack.
As soon as Liu Shimo led his troops to retreat to the Wulongtai cottage, the enemy sent a machine-gun battalion to attack them. Bullets rained down, and our soldiers could only hide behind cover and return fire.
Seeing the crisis of the battle situation, Liu Shimo led the soldiers of the guard platoon to pick up submachine guns and began to strafe the enemy, killing the enemy outside the wall like cutting wheat.
Finally holding out until the 2nd Battalion arrived, our troops began a counteroffensive, and the enemy fled in a hurry. Later, when cleaning up the battlefield, I learned that our army had completely annihilated a brigade of the enemy and captured a large amount of weapons and equipment.
After the end of the Long March, Liu Shimo also went to Yan'an and got the opportunity to enter the Xi University of Resistance University. But bad luck began to find him from then on.
Because he was born in the Red Fourth Front Army, he has the indelible imprint of Zhang Guotao, and he was very excluded by the Central Red Army in Yan'an.
Wang Ming repeatedly took advantage of this practice to attack Liu Shimo, a general from the Red Fourth Front Army. In 1937, he even falsely accused Liu Shimo and others of trying to confront the central government, relying on his clever words to make the central leaders listen to his nonsense, and sentenced Liu Shimo to death.
It was under this kind of grievance that Liu Shimo drilled the tip of the horns and almost killed himself with a gun. Fortunately, under Xu Shiyou's intercession, he was sentenced to one and a half years in prison by Chairman Mao.
In the past year and a half, he has been farming in Yan'an, and his farming life has once again brought peace to his soul. After the end of his sentence, he returned to the army as usual.
After the victory of the Anti-Japanese War, he went to the northeast to establish a base and participated in the Battle of Siping. Until 1950, due to the recurrence of an old injury, he went south to Wuhan to recuperate.
However, at that time, medical resources were still too scarce, and the front line was still fighting, so there were not many medicines that could be supplied to the rear.
Liu Shimo's stay in Wuhan can only be said to have a quiet environment for him to recuperate, which does not help much in the recovery of his condition.
In 1952, Liu Shimo died of illness in Wuhan due to serious injuries at the age of 42.

Countless martyrs dedicated their youth in the process of revolution, but they were not rewarded accordingly. At least as far as Liu Shimo is concerned, he has not been able to enjoy a happy old age.
But his spirit is happy, because he witnessed the founding of New China and the country he built with his own hands.
