The next day, Wu Xiubo's wife He Zhenya issued a statement saying that Chen Yulin had to call the police to arrest him because he had repeatedly asked for huge amounts of property. He mentioned that the whole family was threatened and intimidated by Chen Yulin, a junior for a year and a half, and the amount of extortion ranged from millions to tens of millions, and there was no day of peace.

Affected by this, many of Wu Xiubo's film and television works failed to be released, and since then he has "withdrawn" from the showbiz.

According to reports by China Youth Daily, Cover News, Red Star News, Jiemian News and other media in February 2021, according to people familiar with the matter, the Chaoyang District Court of Beijing held a closed trial on Chen Yulin's extortion of Wu Xiubo, and announced the verdict at the end of January 2021: Wu Xiubo's "girlfriend" Chen Yulin (real name: Chen Menglin) was sentenced to three years in prison, suspended for three years, and fined RMB 100,000. According to reports, the person familiar with the matter said that according to the relevant laws, Chen Yulin could have been sentenced to 10 years, but because Wu Xiubo signed a letter of understanding, the court finally sentenced him to three years with a suspended sentence.

The insider also revealed that Wu Xiubo will no longer engage in the profession of actor in the future.
