The full name of the Joint Entrance Examination for Overseas Chinese Students is the "Examination for the Joint Enrollment of Overseas Chinese and Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan Students in Ordinary Colleges and Universities", which is an independent examination channel for the children of overseas Chinese and Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan compatriots to apply for mainland universities, and enjoy the same treatment as mainland candidates, and the graduation certificate is completely the same!
Scope of Recruitment
Persons who meet one of the following conditions and have a high school graduation education level (must be academic education) can apply for the joint enrollment of overseas Chinese, Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan students (JUPA) by ordinary colleges and universities, including:
Hong Kong and Macao candidates: Hong Kong/Macao permanent resident ID card and "Hong Kong and Macao Residents Mainland Travel Permit" (referred to as Home Return Permit), candidates need to cancel their household registration in the mainland first, and apply for a Home Return Permit with a one-way Hong Kong and Macao Permit before registering for the test.
Taiwanese candidates: cancellation of Mainland household registration certificate + valid residence certificate + "Taiwan Resident Travel Permit to and from the Mainland" (referred to as Taiwan Compatriot Permit).
Overseas Chinese candidates: Candidates and at least one of their parents have obtained long-term or permanent residence (PR) in another country and are living abroad. It needs to be met.
Other categories: Candidates and at least one of their parents have lived overseas for a long time, and have obtained long-term residency in the host country for 5 consecutive years or more.
Note: Chinese citizens are not considered overseas Chinese during the period of study abroad for the purpose of studying abroad (including official assignment and self-financed), or the period of working abroad for official business (including expatriate workers).
Summary of the core advantages of the joint entrance examination
There are few test subjects, and the college entrance examination requires 9 homework to be studied simultaneously, while the joint entrance examination only has 5 subjects, but the full score is also 750 points (150 points for a single subject), and the learning pressure is far lower than that of the regular college entrance examination.

Difference from international students
Overseas Chinese students refer to students who have PR status overseas, and their nationality is still Chinese. International students refer to students who have cancelled their household registration in the Mainland and have foreign nationality.
Overseas Chinese students, Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan students participate in the unified joint entrance examination, while international students usually participate in the independent enrollment by various institutions, written examinations or interviews, and need to meet the relevant requirements of the corresponding application schools.
The fees for overseas Chinese students are the same as those for ordinary candidates in the mainland, and the fees for international students are slightly higher than those for international students.
