If you are considering changing the CPU to the computer for this year's Double 11, then this time Intel launched the fourteenth generation desktop i7, the main one is not a loss.

I have to say that last year's thirteenth generation desktop CPU released by Intel, toothpaste is really squeezed a little fiercely.

The performance of the thirteenth-generation i9 is not only 41% higher than that of the twelfth-generation i9, but the i5-13600 is even beaten by the previous generation i7-12700 and successfully achieves a performance inversion.

The saying of "every thirteen fragrances" in the digital world is a bit metaphysical.

But there is a release, there is a receipt, Tergo regained the character of the toothpaste factory this year, and stabilized the 14th generation desktop "13th generation upgrade", the product code name of Raptor Lake Refresh.

This naming method is a bit of the meaning of 14nm+++ back then.

It is worth mentioning that due to the next generation of desktop products, Intel may use the Arrow Lake architecture of the new generation Intel 20A process.

Speaking of nonsense, everyone must still be more concerned about the level of the 14th generation processor, and Tony is dedicated to everyone.

This time, we received a total of three CPUs: i5-14600K, i7-14700K and i9-14900K.

From the paper parameters, the number of cores, threads, and cache of i9-14900K and i9-13900K have not changed.

But this time, the main frequency of the 14th generation i9 has been upgraded, and it can run 6GHz by default without manual overclocking.

And the only one of the three processors that has changed in parameters is the i7-14700K.

It has been upgraded from the previous generation of 16 cores and 24 threads to 20 cores and 28 threads, adding four more energy-efficient cores, and the power consumption is maintained at the original level.

Everyone knows that Intel is hiding alive on this i7.

So this time, Tony will mainly test this i7-14700K, in order to facilitate comparison, I also tested 14900K, as well as the i9-13900K of the last college entrance examination.

Let's take a look at the running score of an old friend CineBench R23.

In the regular ten-minute round-robin test, the score of 14900K brushed the high score of single-core 2194 and multi-core 41391, which is still a slight improvement compared to the previous generation 13900K, but not much.

What is more amazing is the 14700K result, which is more than 4000 points higher than the R23 multi-core score of the previous generation 13700K.

The newly added energy efficiency core still plays a big role.

Overall, the single-core scores of these processors in the 14th generation have not changed much, mainly focusing on the improvement of multi-core processing.

In the 30-minute oven test, the 14900K's package power and average temperature improved compared to the previous generation, and the running score was close to 4W.

i7-14700K continues to show the dark horse nature of this generation of processors, with a power consumption of more than 200W, running a high score close to 3W4.

This performance, rounded to about equal to a small i9.

Compare intuitively, from the CPU-Z running score, it can be seen that this i7 is completely good between the two i9 big brothers.

Tony also specifically tested the i7's performance under the office test software CrossMark, and the 2520's total score was about 100 points higher than the previous generation.

In the SPEC workstation 3.1 evaluation test, the i7-14700K can also easily get a CPU composite score of 3.57, which is close to the 3.61 of the previous generation i9.

The fixed running score project is also a piece of music, and the scene where the CPU buys to play games is still indispensable.

First let's look at the old PFS game CS:GO,

Unfortunately, V Company's CS:GO was recently updated to CS 2, and the original popular running score file does not seem to have logged into the 2nd generation game.

So this game with the highest frame rate in the past was not tested this time...

With 1080P default high quality, ray tracing turned off, and automatic DLSS turned on, the average frame rate of all three processors can be stable around 150 frames.

At 1% Low, which illustrates the lag problem, both i9s can maintain a frame rate above 90 frames.

Recently, it coincided with the DOTA 2 International Invitational Tournament, and the Chinese team both entered the winner's group in these two days, which is gratifying, Tony specially picked a video of the Super Brother Rush and ran the test.

In the frame rate performance of this piece, the three U's are still quite close, which perfectly interprets what is called a team battle picturesque, without obvious stuttering.

Tony also tested the recently hit pull-up game Beast Party.

Originally, in multiplayer mode, it would test the processing power of the CPU, but I didn't expect that the performance of these three U's was easy to eat and eat casually, but this game is more critical to network quality.

The strategy game "City: Skyline" still plays the role of a CPU killer this time, this time Tony changed a city map with a slightly larger amount of material, no surprise...

Whether you're an i9 or i7, in City: Skyline, you have to put your head down.

Finally, Tony ran the test of R-star's old game "Red Dead Redemption 2", and the average frame rate of i7-14700K was slightly better than that of two i9s, and the overall gap did not widen.

It seems that the game of R Star is still more eating graphics cards.

Combining work and rest, after the game runs, let's take a look at the productivity performance of the fourteenth generation of Intel.

The test score of the open-source rendering software Blender, the three processors are basically discussed from low to high, and there is no inversion, which is quite a reflection of Intel's knife skills on the processor.

The score of V-Ray, another rendering software, also confirms Tony's idea, but for this i7, the results are very close.

Most video producers will use the editing software PR, Tony also ran with standard software, from the results, both i9s ran 1500 points, i7 card one 1499.

Let's sum up, the overall improvement of this year's 14th generation desktop processor is not obvious, but for this i7, it still gives a big surprise.

From the overall National Bank debut price, i9 is slightly more expensive than the previous generation, while i5 is cheaper, i7 price remains unchanged.

However, according to the current Intel's official price reduction, and the upcoming Double 11, the price of the 13th generation has further preferential space.

If you're on a budget, Tony would still recommend buying the 14th-generation i5-14600 series.

I simply ran the score, and its R23 running score is about 1000 points higher than the previous generation multi-core, and the single-core is about 40 points higher.

There are improvements, but not as big as the i7

And if you have a sufficient budget, then this year's 14th generation i7 product power is quite good.

In terms of performance, compared with the 7950 X3D next door, it is back and forth, the single core of the 14700 is stronger, and the performance of the 7950 X3D will be better in the game.

And the price... The channel price of the 7950 X3D is now 4579 yuan, and the official price of the 14700K is 3799 yuan.

Anyway, the surprise of the 14th generation Intel desktop is indeed not as big as the 13th generation.

But based on the current product strength, as long as you have the need to upgrade the processor, this generation of upgrades will not lose much.
