It turns out that there is a bridge in Beijing. It was used by the emperor when he went to the Temple of Heaven and the Altar of Agriculture. Hence the name Skyflyover. But it was later demolished in 1934 and the flyover became a place name and has been preserved.
Since the beginning of the 20th century, artists have been performing near the bridge. Especially after the opening of the Ujivilag Amusement Park and Seongnam Amusement Park around 1917, a large number of folk artists gathered around the overpass to perform and pass on their skills. At that time, Tianqiao could enjoy Peking Opera, Pingju, Pingshu, crosstalk, circus, acrobatics, foreign films, etc.
At that time, the artists performing on the streets of Tianqiao generally had no formal training, but many storytellers and singers had to eat with their mouths open. It sounds like you can get money just by opening your mouth, but in reality it is extremely difficult to survive. First, you need to engage your audience. Only if the content is good, others will be willing to watch and pay. Otherwise, if you work for half a day, you will starve.
As a result, many artists at that time continued to develop their own cultivation, drawing nourishment from other professions, and eventually became a generation of masters.
Nowadays, we always say that the flyover used to hide dragons and crouching tigers, but the photos of that year are rarely seen.
