On September 14, Gou officially announced that his choice of the so-called "vice president" in Taiwan was Lai Peixia, a 60-year-old woman.
This is another "earthquake". Because it was really unexpected.
Gou said that Lai Peixia is a doctor of law from Jinan University in Taiwan, has rich experience, and is no stranger to the political field.
Who is Lai Peixia? Is that really the case?
But in fact, don't look at Lai Peixia is a doctor of law, but in fact, she is a once famous female singer on the island of Taiwan, and later a famous host, who has released many records such as "Carnival of Love", "Xia Fei Season", "Embrace Me into Dreams", and also filmed the movie "Ami Aramco".
An entertainer who has been mainly engaged in singing and composing songs all his life, like Zelensky, understands what politics? Didn't Zelensky hurt Ukraine miserably enough?
As a result, many people in Taiwan think that Gou Taiming really can't find anyone. In fact, Gou must have had his deep considerations.
Sure enough, only one day after Gou announced that Lai Peixia would be a partner and run for the so-called "vice president" in Taiwan, the media in Taiwan exposed even more shocking news.
It turned out that Lai Peixia was an American, proper American citizen.
In just a few days, Gou Taiming triggered three political "big earthquakes" on the island of Taiwan, which was already shaking.
As a result, many people in Taiwan and mainland scholars believe that Gou Taiming "lost his sight" and made a careless mistake.

Even if Gou does not know, will Lai Peixia not know that she is a US citizen?

Even if as reported by the Taiwan media, Lai Peixia immediately announced that she would arrange the procedure for renunciating her US citizenship as soon as possible, but would this be the truth? I don't see it necessarily.
Now it seems that Gou's move is more likely:
First, his announcement of his candidacy may be a trick of him or the Kuomintang to disrupt the election situation in Taiwan and create an opportunity for Hou Youyi, who is lagging behind in the polls, to surpass Democratic Progressive Party candidate Lai Qingde and People's Party candidate Ke Wenzhe.
Second, since he wants to use Lai Peixia as a partner, he is optimistic about her star influence. But that alone is not enough, a bomber bomb is needed, and that is that Lai Peixia is an American citizen. Gou knows that people in Taiwan are very pro-American, so that everyone in Taiwan knows that Lai Peixia is an American citizen and can get more support. Lai Peixia's renunciation of U.S. citizenship can also reflect her "noble feelings" of giving up U.S. citizenship for the sake of Taiwan, which can increase the probability of victory.
This is not enough, Gou may think that because of Lai Peixia's identity, the United States will support Gou's administration. In my opinion, the latter is more likely.
