The tournament attracted Shanghai Jiushi Sharks from the China Professional Basketball League (hereinafter referred to as CBA), Zhejiang Chouzhou Golden Lease Team, and Serbia's top league KLS Metara Basketball Team and Zlatibor Basketball Team to participate. Zhejiang Chouzhou Golden Rental Team and Shanghai Jiushi Sharks are two strong teams in the CBA League, and Zhejiang Chouzhou Golden Lease Team won the first place in the regular season and the runner-up in the playoffs in the CBA League last season.

In August 2019, the "Belt and Road" China-Europe Basketball Champions Cup was officially launched in Chongqing. The CEIBS Basketball Champions Cup is held in Yubei District, Chongqing City in August and September every year, and the organizing committee invites top clubs from the Eurobasketball Champions League and European basketball leagues to China to compete against the top CBA clubs.
